Friday Morning
Plans for today:
- go for a walk {done}
- start the homework sketch
- vacuum the floor
- remember that the folk dancing classs was moved until 4 pm today
- work on getting a little picture of the Bookworm up on the Bookworm diary site
- do the dishes
And that is about it for the day, folks…
The weather here is glorious. When I went out this morning the temperature was 70 degrees and the sun was shining. I don’t know what the humidity is but it has to be lower than it is in Mississippi which is where I lived for over 30 years!
I am walking around this apartment looking at walls. That is the assignment–draw another wall in the house with, of course, the assorted "stuff " that is up against it. In addition, she gave us a handout with a couple of ways of showing depth in our pictures {in addition to perspective} and I am sure she will be looking for that. One which I use without thinking much about it is to have overlapping objects. A couple of others are to have objects in the distance {say, for example, hills} lighter and wirth less defined edges. And the last one I remember is to have objects that are really the same size {say, for example} three row boats} drawn not only small as they are "deeper" into the picture but also higher up the page because objects at the bottom of the page seem closer to us. Oh, and I forgot receding lines meeting, like railroad tracks.
When I am writing for a class assignment, I tend to do a lot of the preliminary pre-writing in my head so by the time I come to put the words on paper, I don’t have to do many rewrites. It seems I am doing that kind of thing visually, also. I just caught myself looking at the orange chair and the bookshelf and thinking that they would make an interesting drawing. I was mentally putting in the horizon line and planning the perspective!
Ok, I am off to work on the list above…
Until later…
Good luck…I would like to see some more of your drawings sometime!!! You are very good!!! 🙂 Josh

Have fun with your drawing. I hope to try and do some on my own while I’m home. My mom is a fantastic artics and my brother has degrees in it. I always wish I had their talent.

Your good. All I can draw is flowers and only because I have practised them a lot. I never get perspective right. Your first drawing was really good I hope you show us your next one too. ryn: Thank you. I guess that is life, you have beginnings and endings of things that bring you to where you are, or are suppose to be. Blessings.

That is cool. I have to put things on paper most of the time and then I edit and edit and edit and edit. It takes me forever to write something for a class.

Visualization is a technique that most successful sports stars use as well….see themselves making the right play over and over……just in case you want to take up basketball or football…lol.
