Before I Leave…

Thank you all for the nice words about my drawing. Yes, I have had previous experience. When I was in college in England, I had a double major of art and English literature. So, as you can imagine, I was either in the art rooms or off reading somewhere! 

When I graduated, I began my teaching career as an art teacher but whenever money gets short, the first thing to be cut is almost always  money for art and music, so I very quickly moved into regular teaching. And I stopped practicing art myself. I would say that it has easily been –oh, fifty years since I have done any real drawing. I was pleasantly surprised, however, how quickly the skill came back.

When this class is over, I will look into taking another one. I really want to get into watercolors again but I do not want to have to drive all over Vermont to get a class which is what I would have to have done if I had taken water colors this summer. The classes I am taking are offered by the Vermont Community College and since I am a senior, I pay only half the tuition. However, I have heard that the University of Vermont offers classes tuition-free to seniors which is comething I need to look into if I want to go on with art.

Now, it is time to gather my materials together and get going to class. Fred just tested me on the principles of design and I got all nine of them correct. {He mixed them up since that is how they will be on the test.} I hope I do as well this afternoon. I think that after the test we will be tackling perspective….
