Saturday Very Early
I slept late this morning {or, perhaps since it is almost 2 am I should say yesterday morning} so I am up at this hour listening to Fred snoring. He is a quiet snorer…
My latest DVDs from NetFlix are “Foyle’s War” which is a detective show set in England in WW2. I was a child during that time and this series is really bringing a lot of it back to me. I really enjoy looking at the clothes and the hairstyles of the women. The one I was watching tonight has a scene of a church service and all the women wore skirts and hats! Not a pair of blue jeans in sight! I particularly enjoyed the three children who were collecting newpapers and other salvage because I can remember doing that. Thinking of this reminds me of another movie I saw quite a long time ago. The movie was called “Hope and Glory” and what I remember most about it is how it brought back to me the details of a child’s life back then. For example, we went to school every day with our gas masks slung over our shoulders, and we, too, played on bomb sites…
Tomorrow’s list:
- make a loaf of bread
- clean off the table
- vacuum up the shredded paper I spilled when I emptied the shredder
- take down the trash
- go for a walk
- go for a second walk
- wash the dishes
- make a large salad
- watch the second Foyle’s War DVD
Until later…
Hubby got me both seasons of Foyle’s war for Christmas. I adore that series, and I’m hoping that they come up with another season of it soon. That was a great episode with the 3 kids and the scrap/(recycling?) collection. Heh.

You certainly are very ambitious – not only two walks but lots of other things on your to do list.

I love Foyle’s War. I actually mentioned it in an entry I wrote on OD – can’t remember which one though. Michael Kitchen is brilliant as Foyle and I really like the girl who plays his driver. I guess his character’s family probably originated from the Derry area of Northern Ireland because the River Foyle runs through Derry and the large sea lough north of the city is also Lough Foyle.

I’ll have to check out Foyle’s War. I’m always looking for interesting movies to put on my Netflix list.

I like reading or hearing about WWII because my parents were young adults then. I look at the old photos and realize… I did not know them then….what were they like? It would be neat to go back in time for just a day to meet either of them then. I enjoyed reading of your childhood experiences during the war, too. Thanks! Weesprite

I may try one of those services like NetFlix again … I used Blockbuster online briefly and enjoyed the convenience. But, too often with me, I don’t have the patience to search the movie database and wait for the arrival of the DVDs.

I just read a survey question asking what the first thing you think of when waking in the morning. My answer would be “what the heck am I doing awake at this hour”? I think many of us can relate to this. Never heard of Foyles War but have made myself a note to watch out for it. Happy walking. It is WINDY here today.
