Friday Morning
I slept late this morning and now I wish I hadn’t because my back hurts. it is odd how that always happens when I sleep late.
We had about 10 inches of snow yesterday Fred informs me. I have already been out to the drug store to get his insulin and another prescription and a few bits and bobs for myself. The sidewalks had been cleared a bit and the snow was dry and squeaky and easy to walk on. This morning I chose to go up the very steep upper part of our road instead of going up Main St. which is a slow hill upwards. I did the steep hill at a reasonable pace and only had to stop once which pleased me. The reason I had to stop was that my leg muscles needed a rest and not that I needed to catch my breath. This is different from what has happened in the past when I have had to stop because both leg muscles and breathing needed a break. I guess walking on the treadmill has helped my breathing. {It is a manual treadmill and harder to use than a powered one. I know this for a fact because I used to have a powered one.} Anyway, I am mostly able to do 5 minutes at a time on this manual machine with a lot of effort and without stopping. This is an improvement over when I started when I was not able to complete one minute.
I am seriously considering going out to shovel a bit of snow! The sidewalk plow has thrown up a big pile in our gateway, and it was hard to get out onto the sidewalk. I know Mike {our landlord} will do it when he gets home from work, or Addi, our next door neighbor often does ours when she does hers, but it isn’t much and since I will probably not get out for another walk, it can count instead of a walk. And, yes, I know to be careful and take it slowly. The local newsreaders are on all the time about how many unfit people die of snow shoveling! There is an older-than-me gentlemen who lives across the road from us and I have watched him many times shoveling his snow. He goes slowly, lifts only a small amount at a time and takes frequent breaks!
Until later…
I attempted a manual treadmill once at a friend’s house….don’t know how you do it!

I thought about getting out there and doing some clean up shoveling, but that’s as far as I got – thinking about it.

I’ll think about shoveling snow too, and thank heavens we are only having rain. 🙂 Be careful out there.

Being fit sure does help during snow season. I’ve noticed how much easier it is to do since i’ve been working out. (couple of years)

sun is out and the snow is melting. i’ll probably go for a walk tomorrow. right now the sidewalks where i walk are still slushy and i don’t like walking in that. i go slow and take rests often when i shovel. take care,

It probably is good exercise to shovel a little snow. Go easy. We didn’t get any snow, but it sure is cold here right now. Blessings

WOW, ten inches of snow! I won’t say I want some, but I’d like to be in it for just a day. 🙂 Have fun shovelling…. I well remember (from our years living in northern Maine) that it can be fun so long as you take it easy. Here’s wishing you a lovely evening and weekend. hugs, Weesprite

10 inches of snow? Yikes! Be careful! (Random noter here, by the way)… My grandfather always used to shovel our walkway, and that, sadly, ended in an aneurysm. I try to avoid snow at all costs…
