Sunday Morning

The nicest thing just happened. The phone rang and it was J., who runs the local book club. I was glad to hear from her since I wanted to explain why I didn’t come to the last meeting {it was the day of Fred’s surgery} and why I wouldn’t becoming to this month’s meeting either. It is because it is being held at C.’s house rather than the library. The library is just around the corner and I can walk. The book club meetings are from 7 to 8 pm and I don’t drive in the dark. {Since my cataract implants I feel I very probably could, but I am reserving this for an emergency!} Anyway, she said that M., also a book club member and who works at the library, had told her that I had night vision problems and she was calling to offer me a ride to the book club meeting! Then, she asked if I wanted to go to a one-woman performance tomorrow night with her and C. and if so, they would pick me up! I was so thrilled that I forgot to ask what was the name of the performer! I just want to get out! And it is an added bonus that I get to see a live performance and with two women whose company I enjoy.

Fred is pleased too because he says that fact that I feel he is OK to be left without a sitter is an added indication that things are getting back to normal. And they are. He still gets tired quickly but he is needing far fewer naps during the day. He has only had one night where he has slept right through the night since he has been back from the hospital but that one night will become more common. He is insisting on doing everything for himself now as he was before the surgery and heart attack. In fact, he is back to doing things for me. A few days ago, he made a big pot of Fred’s Famous Oatmeal and this morning he made my toast along with his.

And since the Foley catheter was removed last week when we went out to the doctor’s office, he has gone back to normal urination and normal underwear. He is also doing his exercises without being reminded and seems stronger. His doctor has him back on a particular medication that tends to make him a bit light-headed when he first starts taking it but it brought his blood pressure down very satisfactorilly when he was taking it before and that is why he is willing to put up with the temporary side-effect of light-headedness. Next week his goal is to go shopping {YES!!! but he has asked me to go with him at least this first time. This afternoon, his friend Bill is coming to visit and I am going for a massage.

A few minutes ago, a Freecycle person {http://www.freecycle.org} came to the house to pick up the two CD players I advertised on FreeCycle so that is a bit less clutter in this apartment. It is taking me a while {I see it as stretching over a few months if not years!} but eventually this apartment will be where we can find everything we are looking for! LOL

Until later…

It is lovely when someone makes a thoughtful gesture like that, isn’t it? It really touches my heart. And obviously they like being with you and want to include you. Great news.
