Saturday Morning Early
So, of course, because I don’t have to get up for anything this morning, my eyes pop open at 5:45 am! Yesterday, when we had the doctor’s appointment at 11 am, I reluctantly got up at 8 am!
I am really enjoying the “Cracker” series I am borrowing from Netflix. Last night I watched the first disk from the second season. I found it a bit confusing at times because there was a lot of reference to what happened at Hillsborough in 1989 and I had only the faintest recollection of that. What happened was that 93 Liverpool football fans were crushed to death “at Hillsborough stadium in Sheffield during the FA Cup semi-final between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.” {read more at http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/april/15/newsid_2491000/2491195.stm } In every one of these DVDs there has always been something unexpected happened and there is always something to make me look forward to the next episode. One caveat if you are thinking of watching this series. It will be much more enjoyable if you watch them in order. I would imagine that the impact that the death of a character had on me in this DVD would not be as strong if I hadn’t got to know and like him from the previous episodes. And then, of course, there is the continuing development of the situation between Fitz and his wife and Fitz and “Panhandle.” I will say no more. If you like psychological thrillers, rent “Cracker.”
I hear Mike and Melanie banging around below us even though it is only 7 am on a Saturday morning. I don’t want to give the impression they are inconsiderate people because that is not true, but when there are two apartments in an old house, it is hard not to know what the people above or below are doing. I bet when their baby is born {July, I think} we will know when he or she is awake! Ok, I am now going to wash dishes and then start the breadmaker. As long as the bread is being eaten, I have no problem tossing the ingredients into the breadmaking machine every second day or so. Then, while the bread machine is doing its thing, I will try the recipe for home-made gingerbread. Going by the recipe alone, { it asks for molasses, brown sugar AND light corn syrup} this is going to be too sweet for me, but we shall see.
Until later…
Nothing like fresh home baked bread. However I wasn’t using my bread machine so gave it away.

Its funny, I was JUST saying to someone last night that I’ve had no trouble waking up at 6AM everyday for the last few months—because I didn’t have to be into work until noon. Now Monday I have to start working at 8 o’clock, you just KNOW my body will take to snoozing all of a sudden. (Darn that Murphy!) 🙂 Sounds like you made good use of your AM though!

You’re making me in the mood to haul out my breadmaker again…

When we were in the military and lived in base housing, the houses were always doubles and we could hear EVERYTHING the neighbors said or did, too. As could they with us, sad to say! That is one of my favorite things about living in our nest in the countryside…. can’t hear the neighbors and they can’t hear our commotion either! Here’s wishing you a wonderful day! hugs, Weesprite

We use our bread machine constantly in the winter. I made gingerbread last winter with the ingredients you listed and it came out great. Nothing is too sweet for me! Take care. 🙂

*huggs* I haven’t had real gingerbread in years, I probably wouldn’t know what it taste like.

I remember when bread machines first came out and they were so popular. Now you don’t hear much about them. But I just can’t have enough of freshly, baked homemade bread. I remember coming home from school all the time to it. My mother made fresh bread daily, about seven loaves at a time. We had a large family and all took lunches to school at the time. I would love to have some again.

Hope you two enjoy some sunshine today.

It is just a month? Seems like much longer & I’m sure it seems like that to you too! But look at how you came through it – and got him through it as well -you should be really proud of yourself. Cracker was brilliant – I loved it when it was on the telly – one of the better series. It was on one of the freeview channels the other night – thoroughly enjoyed it.

Having people live above/below you can be a real comfort sometimes, and it sounds like you all get along great. I don’t even know some of my neighbors, but, it’s nice to know that they are around. Take care.
