Coffee Thoughts

Small things please me and this morning it is my ability to organize myself so I can do at least two things at once. So far I have:

  • put the oatmeal in the microwave to warm while I was out on the balcony filling up the bird feeder
  • writing this while taking a break  and drinking coffee
  • still to be done–taking the trash downstairs and on the way back, picking up from my car the parking ticket I got yesterday.
  • still to be done– writing a check for said parking ticket and the one bill I have to pay still.
  • still to be done–taking the book I promised a friend and the parking ticket down to the post office.
  • still to be done –walking to the post office and continuing on as part of my programmed exercise this morning.

Since I have started making the occasional loaf of bread in the bread machine, I have discovered by trial and error that that the best flour for the loaves I bake is flour that is actually made here in Vermont, the King Arthur bread flour. The other day we were at Costco and found that there is also a King Arthur cook book. Now, I am not much of a cook since I don’t enjoy doing it, but Fred is, so we decided to buy the cookbook. I looked through it last night and found there is a recipe for gingerbread.

A few weeks ago, Fred brought home a couple of gingerbread mixes because they were on sale. He really enjoyed this cake and I like it cut into small pieces and frozen. Last night he brought the groceries to the bottom of the stairs for me to bring up and when I got them up, I found he had got two more of these mixes and they were not on sale any more! Now, this is a big thing. He only buys the necessities of life that are not on sale and apparently this gingerbread has joined salad greens, Marmite and feta cheese {all of which are bought for me} in that category. So, today I need to check out the recipe in the King Arthur cookbook and see if we have all the ingredients to make gingerbread for us since it seems it has now become a staple!

The coffee has gone and it is now time for me to put on my shoes, take the trash downstairs and out to the back and pick up that ticket from my car…

Until later..

I hope you enjoy your gingerbread. It’s funny how with guys some things are a hit and you don’t know until they go shopping. Have a wonderful day! Blessings.

It’s trash day here, too. How much does the parking ticket cost? In Dumbassville at large they are two bucks. If you don’t pay in seven days it goes up to ten bucks. On the Dumbass U campus it’s like thirty bucks.

Have a lovely walk and day.

Back when I had a kitchen I’d often drive down to the King Arthur Flour store in southern Vermont. They make up their own bread machine flour mixes and things, more than what they have in their catalog.

Sounds good to me it is amazing how we change things in our life, little by little, but if we did not then, i guess life would be boring and we would miss out on so many things. I think changes keep us fresh

Thanks for your note! I greatly enjoy your entries too. They do inspire me. I hope to one day learn to be thoroughly happy with any of my accomplishments, because the old adage of, “wherever I am… is where I’m AT….” is very true, and also completely good. 🙂 You seem both wise and content with your life, both qualities I greatly admire. Wishing you a good enveing and ‘morrow! Weesprite

I did do the police report, but will have to “prove” he called me and was threatning me, that is why I will not answer any more “blocked” or “private” phone calls to my cell phone. You cannot call my house with a blocked line I have a service that makes you identify yourself to get through. It is very cool and fairly inexpensive with our regular phone bill. *huggs*
