November the Last
I went out for a walk this morning and after 55 minutes got back barely just in time to go to the cardiologist’s with Fred. Now, originally, he was supposed to be having an EKG with his primary care physician and then it was changed to this cardiologist because his routine 6 months appointment was today. But somehow I had got it into my head that the EKG was today and the cardiologist was tomorrow. Usually I do not go to doctor appointments with him nor he with me but all bets are off for cancer and heart problems! He went with me to the interview where I was told I had endometrial cancer and the one where I was given the talk about what my choices are. So, when he was going to the cardiologist a year ago when we thought he had heart problems. I asked if he would like me to come along. And the same with the colon cancer appointment.
Anyway, this one was quite interesting. Fred’s chief concern was that was he going to survive the colon cancer surgery or was his heart going to give out. Well, after all the no-one-can-tell-routine, the cardiologist told him that it seemed very likely to him that Fred would come through this very well indeed. Since he was going to have some of his bowel removed there is an absolutely essential medication he is taking for his heart that he had to keep on taking in the hospital but not in pill form; however, it could be given intraveously and the cardiologist said that he would see it was added to Fred’s medication plan. He told Fred that he would be there at the hospital but unless something went very wrong, he would not be there at the surgery. This reassured Fred a lot. Oh, and the EKG {I think those are the right initials–the test that gives a print-out of the heartbeats?} was excellent. So, two weeks from today, he will be having the surgery.
As I mentioned, I walked for 55 minutes this morning. This afternoon I set out walking but half way up Main St., decided I didn’t want to walk aimlessly so called Fred to ask him if he wanted me to pick up his insulin. He said fine so I went to the drug store and did this. When I got home I reminded him that he also wanted some OTC athlete’s foot stuff and if he would tell me what it was and give me some money, I would walk back up there again. It is about a ten minute walk away but it is a good walk because no matter which way I go, there is always one hill to walk up which is very good for me. I usually walk up Main St and down the hill part of the street we live on. So, anyway, I actually got up to 99845 steps! So, I hopped on the tread mill to make it up to 10013 steps for the day!
Until later…
You walk no matter what and that is just so inspiring.

I had to have an EKG a couple of months ago because of my blackout in September. My heart sounds like a dog’s chew toy.

I know you both must be completely stressed out, but the news is good, right? Good! On a completely different subject, and I hope it’s okay to move on like this, have you bought Paintshop Pro #9? I ordered it as my birthday present yesterday.

and I didn’t know Fred was going to have surgery in 2 weeks to have part of his colon removed. I looked for an entry, but didn’t find one…. I hope it will all go well. I can imagine this is nerve wrecking.

You put most of us to shame, well done for keeping it up. Your just brillant and well done for facing the appointements together, so pleased the doctors, could put your minds a rest, if just a little. It never seems like exercise when it is normal everyday activity

YES for those steps! God, you are amazing, Patrisha!! I am glad you went with Fred to those appointments — he must be scared silly. Your daily-ness must be a great comfort to Fred now — I mean, that you go on, in quiet faith, repeating your good routines!! Love, Anna
