Saturday
I was surprised how annoyed I was that OD was down yesterday. I didn’t think I spent that much time here reading and writing. And my sister in England left me an IM to tell me she couldn’t read my journal!
I walked for 15 minutes only on Thursday because it was cold, windy and raining, and yesterday I discovered I am such a creature of habit! My morning routine was disrupted by boob-squishing and then I went back to bed for a couple of hours. After that, the day was almost completely gone and although I did get in a short walk, it was only about 3000 steps for the whole day. This morning I am back to my normal routine and managed a whole hour! However my butt muscles are complaining a bit {I guess because basically I took two days off} so I may not go out this afternoon. It the sun was shining, I know I would go despite the temperature {41 degrees and feels like 34} but when it is overcast, for me there is just not the incentive.
Fred and I were talking about the colon cancer this morning and he was saying again about how angry he is to be diagnosed with colon cancer when he has been dealing with insulin-dependent diabetes for over thirty years. I know exactly how he feels because I have had two different cancers, and silly though it may sound, when you have had one life-threatening illness and dealt successfully with it, there is a definite feeling of “Whew! Dealt with THAT successfully! Now, on with life!” I am glad he feels he can talk about this to me. I am trying not to obsess about this but I am aware that the reaon for boob-squishes is to detect cancer…
Fred just left to go to the grocery store for essentials which means salad stuff. I would not have lost this weight nor be having so little difficulty in maintaining without my habit of having a VERY large bowl of salad in the refrigerator at all times. One thing I really like about salad is that it is the one food I feel fine in tasting as I make it! I must eat at least a cup of raw veggies while I am putting it together! LOL. Fred is also good at making sure I have apples especially the large crisp ones. I really like salad and fruit so I have little trouble eating the approved amount {or more} per day. Fred is more creative than I am about food but occasionally, I do come up with something good. A few days ago, I added some cut-up prunes to the salad because the box was out there in front of me and accidentally found out how delicious these are especially with feta cheese {which I also add to salads}. The tanginess of the feta and the sweetness of the prunes complement each other very well indeed.
Ok, I am off to clean up the center counter in the kitchen so that I will have a place to put the bags of groceries when Fred brings them in. {He buys– paying, of course from the partner account to which we contribute equally–and I carry upstairs and put away–a division of labor that suits us both!}
Until later…
The salad does sound delicious. I will have to try that sometime.

Hope the boob-squishing results are ok

**Serena makes mental note to stock up on salad fixins. RYN: yeah wasn’t that the worst survey? That’s how bored I am today.

Try Feta cheese, Craisons, and Honey roasted walnuts!!!!!! Yummy! Usually with Marie’s Caesar salad dressing. That’s my sister’s fav. And I don’t think either of you is obsessing. On the contrary, I think you’re both quite realistic. I’d be bouncing off things…. Love ya! ~M

Wish my hubby would catch that habit.

I felt the same way about OD being down yesterday! I, too, am a creature of habit and I don’t like my habits disrupted! Again, I hope things go well for Fred. As for salads…. feta cheese is scrumptious in ’em!! The dried prunes sound good too. Weesprite

I hated it being down, too. But then I KNOW I spend too much time here! LOL!

I always try to have a fruit sallad in the fridge. It is so good, and I eat it quickly, when it is already cut up. It’s just hard to find fruit that’s in season around here, especially since I don’t have a lot of money.

Feta cheese and prunes are an unusual combo. What kind of dressing do you use with that? I didn’t have time to get on OD until late and then it was down.

I love to add fruit to my everyday dishes, it really helps with the boredom. And I love Feta cheese. mmmmmmm *huggs*

Didn’t want to worry you with my note. His cancer was so bad because he hadn’t gone to a doctor in years. I’m sure things with Fred will be just fine. =)
