Later on Wednesday

One month to Christmas Eve! I love Christmas! Fred is very hard to buy things for brcause when I ask him what he want, he always says “Nothing!” And it is true he has pretty well everything he wants. I have, so far, bought him an apple corer-and-slicer partly because *I* would like one and partly because he always cuts his apples up and he does like gadgets! I also got him an ice-cream scoop that purports to cut through rock-hard ice cream. There is some kind of stuff {silicon?} in the handle that warms the scooping part by just holding it in one’s hand or by running it under the hot water faucet. I will probably find a few more little things like this before Christmas.

Now, I just want to boast a bit because I have 10,000 plus steps today! I went out for an hour’s walk this morning and the pedometer said I had very close to 8,000 steps when I got back.  So, about 3 pm, I went out again for 30 minutes and got the extra steps I needed. It was trying to rain when I went out and I carried my umbrella. This, of course, meant that it didn’t rain!

I ordered the book club book Reading Lolita in Tehran {Sp? That doesn’t look right} from Amazon. I will read it although I am not sure I will get to the meeting because it is on December 14th, the same day that Fred has his surgery. We do not know as yet what time the surgery  will be but I am hoping it will be first thing in the morning. Generally diabetics get the early spots so they don’t have to do without food too long. We have already discussed that I will not be in to see him in the evenings since even with my “new” eyes, I am not driving in the dark unless it is an emergency. So, if his surgery is in the morning, I will take him and and stay until I know he is OK. Then I will need to call his daughters, his friend Bill and my sister and brother-in-law in England. If I feel up to it, I can actually walk around the corner to the book club meeting at the library. of course, all these plans will change probably as soon as we know the time of his surgery.  Next week I have the yearly boob squeeze AND  a dental appointment but not on the same day!

Until later…

I hope all will go well with him. I’m praying for both of you. Happy Thanksgiving! I for one and very thankful to have you as my friend!
