Saturday

I have just checked, and I got 10,115 steps on the pedometer today! I went out twice as usual  and for some reason, I just seemed to have a lot of energy both times. Both times I went up to the school and did two laps walking around the track. It was pretty easy today because although the temperature has only just reached 40 degrees, there is little or no wind. Although I try to dress for it, I really tend to cut the walk short if the wind is blowing right through me.

I got out onto the balcony today and bagged up and carried down all the debris from the balcony boxes and the hanging pots. The next thing {which I haven’t done yet} is to sweep up all the stray soil that got flung around as I pulled up the dead annuals and then fill up and put out the bird feeders. Our landlord has cut down the tree that the squirrels used to get to the bird feeders so it will be interesting to see if they find another way. I don’t really mind them all that much although they have destroyed at least one bird feeder we have put out.

What made me go out and do this today was that Fred decided to put his coat on and go down to the yard with his walker to visit Malcolm the Big Black Chow. Fred took with him bits of baloney cut up for Malcom. He told me to go out on the balcony and watch, and yes, as he came around the corner, Malcom gave a sharp bark and started dancing around knowing he was going to get a treat or two. Malcolm is very smart. He already understood “Sit” and now he is learning “Roll over!”  Then, Fred decided that since he was dressed for the cold, he would go for a walk. He walked up the short way to the corner and then back down to the end of the street. If he would only do that every day, I know he would feel at least a little better. but he is an adult and I can’t make him do it. All I can do is to be an example…

My younger son asked me to make sure my Amazon wish list was updated for Christmas… LOL

Until later..

Your diary is like a breath of fresh air… Congratulations on the weight-loss. My highest weight was very close to yours.

Yes, it’s true that we can’t make ’em do what’s good for them, can we? oh, well…at least he did something!

Way to go with the steps today.

Good for you, and Fred on the walking! I still have to clean up my planter debris from the front.

I’m half your age, and I did half your steps today! Eek. Must go try and get a few hundred more in before the end of the day. Nice to hear that Fred’s walking a little more.

Congrats on that over 10K step day! Fun to think of Fred going for a walk! It’s so hard to motivate ourselves, say nothing of others. Love, Anna

Oooh, i forgot Amazon did wish lists, i had been looking for a way that relatives in England could send gifts to my children. Thanks for reminding me.

sounds like a good day and I RYN: I slept in until 9 although I first woke at 5 and had to go back to bed at 6. Not exactly what I had planned (I have been able to sleep until 11 or longer) but I take what I can get right now. Thanks for being there.

I’m sitting here thinking I don’t even want to walk out to my car.

How nice of your son to ask you to update your Amazon list. I’ve had one for 3 years and have let it be known and to date I don’t think anybody but ME has bought anything from it!

I’ve missed Malcolm! Nice to hear about him again. I think you are a great example (and companion) for Fred. Maybe you can buy more doggie treats as a way to get him out of the house?
