Friday

Today my LL Bean flannel-lined jeans arrived. I tried them on and they are great! What I need now is cold weather but since this is Vermont, all I have to do is to wait! This morning the weather was gorgeous. The temperature was 47 {up to 48 now} and the sun was {and still is} shining. I went up to the school’s football field and walking track but went round the track only once since the wind made it rather parky. I walked for 50 minutes and when I have finished this, I am off on the afternoon walk. This morning I forgot the telephone. I plugged it in to recharge last night and it was on the floor beside the heater so I didn’t see it. What I need is a check-list before I go out.

Yesterday on both walks I got down stairs in in the street before I realized I was still wearing my looking-at-the-computer glasses. These have a big area for middle distance and a small close-reading area. The other have a reading area and a looking at far-away-things area. I need trifocals really. My previous glasses were progressive and for two years I tried to like them and failed. I could NEVER find the right place for my eyes to be and I felt like the android Data in the earlier “Star Trek: The New Generation” series when he was still trying to behave like a human and was jerkily moving his head all the time. When I get a new prescription in a couple of years, I will definitely go for trifocals WITH the dividing lines. I started wearing bifocals in my early forties and took to them with enthusiam which, as my eye doctor said, was a sure sign that I really needed them!

Today so far I have done the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen which was a pretty big task since I didn’t do it yesterday at all. I have also been for a 50 minute walk. Hmmm, it doesn’t sound like much does it but somehow it has managed to fill up the time from 9:30 until 2:30! In a few minutes I will start the afternoon walk stopping at the library to leave a bag of freecyce stuff to be picked up tomorrow {http://www.freecycle.org} and then up the Main St. hill to take a prescription into the drug store for Fred. Then I will probably cut across to the school , walk around the track at least once and then homeward.

Until later…

I feel like a slug compared to you. Or even not compared to you. 🙂 You are doing great with walking, Patricia.

You certainly made me smile with your tale about your glasses. Well done for keeping up the exercise. I too have been keeping up my routine

You are so dedicated to your walking . Wish i had half your determination. Nice pic on your front page.

I thought with that cataract operation, you would at least be able to see ONE distance without help.

I think I need to look into Freecycling. Sounds great. And ryn: THANKYOU for recognizing Monty Python. I was beginning to think I was the only one who’d get the reference that I made. 🙂

Just caught up. Patricia, I’m so sorry about Fred. This is just terrible! I wish there was something I could say or do, but all I can really do from here is to pray for him and you. I’m so sorry. I hope that his surgery will be successful!

I dress Miss CC in flannel overalls when it’s really cold. She looks so comfy in them.

I too feel like a slug compared to you. You need a list before you go out, I need a list from the time I wake up. I forget so many things and then grumble about them the rest of the day. How you keep it all together marvels me. You rock.

Patrisha, one 50 minute walk is very impressive, in my book! I am so glad your new warm jeans have arrived & fit! You are right, you’ll have a chance to wear them soon! Love, Anna
