Grr! Updated

I got this new cell phone account about a month ago and yesterday when I was making a call, a sickly-sweet voice told me there was a certain number of dollars in the account and a certain number of minutes. The dollar amount was rather odd because it was under $10.00 and I had opted to have money taken from my account automatically when it dropped to 10 dollars. Anyway, the voice asked me if I wanted to authorize money transferred in so I mentally shrugged and went for it. Ok, all the steps were done and then it asked me to enter the last four digits of my SS number in to authorize this. I did, actually reading it from the SS card because I do not have it memorized, and it was refused! The voice told me that this was NOT the correct number! So, today, I decided to call Unicel and tell them what the problem is. And, of course, the person I spoke to  can do nothing. I will have to actually take the phone and go out to their office! Just what I was trying to avoid! They are open until six tonight so when this last load has finished drying, I may just go out there.

Today is laundry day and I have had four loads. Three of them are washed, dried, folded and put away. The fourth, which is the biggest, is still drying. I have not as yet been for a walk. I very probably won’t get out for a walk if I have to go all the way out to the Unicel store to get this mess sorted out.

Update: I walked in and got the problem solved very quickly by the man who set me up originally. He apologized for the confusion which, he readily admitted was his fault. He then said that I could have called and had it all done over the phone. I told him I HAD called and was told to bring it in! He apologized for that too.

On the positive side, I have almost done four loads of clothes, I have put the Palm software on my desk computer {it was only on the laptop before} and I have been pretty good about not over-eating.

Update: I did go for a walk but only a 20 minute one since I was definitely overdressed for a temperature of 48 degrees!

Until later…

I had the same problem with my ATT Wireless account. They had my ss number wrong and no matter how many people I talked to over the phone it never got changed

So… I want to know about your Palm. What programs do you have on it? Have you added to it? Need any help? LOL! I’m so nosy I can’t stand it!

Dealing with any phone company can be so irritating. Hope you can get it all cleared up soon.

When I read ‘Grrrrr’, I had to come over to your diary to see what today’s world was pulling on you now. Grrrrr! Those telphone companies! We’ve had nothing but trouble with my son’s cell phone. Something is always going wrong with it. Not the kind of trouble you are having, though. What a pain.

I love reading your diary. I don’t always note, because I am a little shy, but I have been reading for about a year now. I really admire you and the way you go about your daily life. You don’t jump hurdles, you just make up your mind to move the darn things, and then you go ahead and do just that! Whether large or small, you never let any problem get you down for long.

I had a problem like that with my last cell company. I never did get it straightened out so I changed carriers. Glad yours was so easily taken care of.

Why can’t everything be handled easily these days?

I would not want to be on the receiving end of one of your Grrrrrs. 🙂

I only like technology when it works. Period. That’s maybe half the time, whether the problem is mine, the sales person, or the programmer. I hate when that happens!

At least it didn’t end up being a hassle when you got there.

Too many cooks in these places is often the case – no-one knows what anyone else is doing. But a productive day nevertheless!

I’m one of the last holdout’s as far as cell phones go. I do NOT want one….and get this, I had to call information today at work, cause I did not have a customer’s #…and now THEY are using an automated system!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!! Love ya! ~M

we have prepaid phones too. Its the best way to go, but what’s happening to you does sound sort of weird.

So glad it worked out better than you thought it would! Hooray!

It’s so hard to judge how to dress for walks this fall. One day it’s hot, the next day it’s bitterly cold.

Good, I’m glad that’s straightened out. I wore a light jacket and a sweat shirt when I went out today and about roasted in Sears.

I’m glad you got it cleared up quickly.

they should have given you a few extra minutes for all your trouble. 🙂

This reminds me of one time, years ago, when I was out driving & pulled over by a cop. Laura was with me. I kept saying, “who do you think he is trying to pull over?” “well mom,” Laura said, “there is no one else on this road but you!” So I pulled over. He claimed my car was not registered (they had new computers in their cars). Turned out, when they inputed my numbers —

they inputed one digit incorectly. I was aggravated to NO END!! But glad your dilemma worked out & one 20 minute walk is just fine! Love, Anna

Have to agree with Tae on this one, they should have given you something (free minutes, entered a higher dollar amount) to compensate you for your time and trouble.

November 16, 2004

Your days sounds abouty right for out times, how often fo things like this happen to us, day in and day out, not wonder we don’t have time to do what we want to. Best wishes

Thanks for your note! I am going to clean out my car, after making a trip to the store to get trashbags…. that’s not exciting, but at least it’s SOMETHING! Might make homemade applesauce too, which will make the house smell good. May we both be feeling a lot less “blah” soon! Weesprite

You are the coolest 70yo I’ve seen. Blogging, eBay, iPod?!? If you tell me that you also text your bingo buddies, I’m outta here. 😉
