Blissful Foot
My left foot–the one with the bunion– is blissfully happy!
I went to Payless and was really surprised to discover how many pairs of size 11 wide shoes they carry. I got all six of them down from the shelves and proceeded to try them on and finally settled on a pair of what look like work boots! I chose these for two reasons:
- This is Vermont and we are heading into winter. The only other boots I have are a pair of ankle-high sexy ones with high heels I will probably never wear again and the waterproof rubber ones for walking in the snow.
- They were on sale! $22.95 {which was a good price anyway} on sale for $6.95!
When I got them home, Fred said if I wanted to, I could try them out by walking them up to the drug store to pick up his prescription stuff. I did that and they felt very odd. Not uncomfortable, but odd. First, they need heavy-duty socks and now I am home, I have a pair on and the boots feel fine. Secondly, I have to figure out what to do about my right foot. My left foot is half a size larger than my right foot. If it was possible, I would like a size 10.5 for the right foot and an 11 for the left. I always buy for the larger foot so my right foot is used to having a rather looser fitting. But these boots are going to cause a blister on my right heel if I don’t do something. I think I will try an inner sole in the right one and see if that works.
But my left foot is blissfully happy!
I think an insole will take off about half a size. I am happy for you and your foot!!

Have you thought of having your bunion removed? I had this surgery on my left foot 13 years ago and I have never regretted having it fixed. My bunion was so bad it had dislocated my big toe and I had to have a pin put in and so wore a cast up to my knee for a month, but it was so worth it. No more pain and I could wear nice shoes again.

I’ve heard that there are associations for people with different sized feet. They match up people based on their right and left foot size and then the people can each buy a pair of shoes, then trade the other foot so that they end up with the right sized shoes for each feet without having to buy two pairs.

I love the options in wide width at Payless. I always go in looking for clearance ones. Glad your foot is comfortable now.

Alot of people need different sizes. Maybe we need to start a new business – selling one shoe at a time.

There is almost nothing better than a good pair of shoes that fit properly. 🙂

Somewhere I remember reading about a website for people with different size feet to trade shoes.

Wonder if it would help if you wore an extra sock on that foot?

that’s good to hear, feet are important. I approve of the marmite!

Happy, happy left foot! Isn’t there a movie, “My Left Foot”? 🙂 Seriously, I think there is. Yes, an insole ought to do it. Most people have one foot a tad bigger than the other, I believe. My right foot is the bigger. My left hand is also noticeably larger than the left.

BTW-Very good price on the shoes.

ryn: A doctor I had told me not to get it fixed until it hurt all the time–so I let it go until it was so bad a pin had to be put in. But if you are comfortable in your shoes, go with that.

There is no worse pain than having your feet hurt. Glad to hear you got the boots, that’s going to make you feel so much happier! Thanks for the kind comment about Mu, I feel so guilty about taking him to the vet when I know they’re giving him shots.

I wear a 7WW (and even wider) and it’s dang-near impossible to find shoes. But sometimes, at Payless, I have a bit of luck.

Im a size 11 wide too! I hate it cause they just dont make as many nice shoes for big feet as they do for regular sizes! Not fair!

How comical the day sounded 🙂

that is a good price! you can also try those things you stick to the inside heal of shoes to make them more snug.

I have exactly the same problem! Bunion on right foot & that foot also slightly bigger than the left. Really hard to get fashionable shoes to fit both feet comfortably.
