“Too Darn Hot”
I lived in Mississippi for over 30 years so why am I bothered by a little heat in Vermont?
Well, for one thing, we expected heat there. My house was very well insulated, had ceiling fans in every room, central air conditioning, AND a pool. Here in the upper apartment of this old house, we have fans.
I did get out and ride my bike this morning before it got too hot. I did 5.3 miles which means I rode around the neighborhood. The longer trips are done when I load my bike onto the back of my car and head out somewhere. There is a ride near the Intervale that I would really like to try. According to the map, it goes right past the Ethan Allen Homestead which is quite an interesting place to visit. Isn’t it odd how we never visit places of interest when we live in the area? I don’t know if I would ever have gone to the homestead if we hadn’t had visitors from England.
This is the last day of my week to cook and I have two little steaks, potato salad and a tomato and assorted other raw veggies salad. It is cooling down somewhat so I won’t mind doing the steaks. I took a cool shower about an hour ago and felt much better after it, and there is a fan blowing directly on me as I type.
Tomorrow I have to spend a few hours at the library supervising the “Reptiles and Amphibians” show. We had 29 children turn up for the snakes. I wonder how many like reptiles and amphibians? Well, at least the lower level of our library, the children’s section is ALWAYS cool. And there are air conditioners in the upper section.
