AAAAGHHHH! Green Card Blues Yet Again

I am SO stressed. I have written about my green-card blues before. And so tomorrow is the day we are going to go beard the collective Immigration and Natualization in their collective dens.

So, tonight, in my usual organized last minute way, I am putting together all the stuff I need into an envelope.

Form I90 all filled out properly? Check

Passport and present green card? Check {I am not sure if I will need my passport but I am taking it}

Two photographs showing my left ear taken within the last 30 days? Check {I am not kidding one bit here, folks! LEFT ear…it says that.}

My alien registration number written LIGHTLY in pencil on the back of the pictures? Check {I wrote lightly…very lightly}

Social security card? Check {again, I am not sure if I need this but better safe that…well, you know}

Money? Check {And yes, they WILL take a check, I checked…}

And so the last thing I do is to find the actual address of the INS from this year’s phone book…and guess what, people…phone-book wise, this year, they don’t exist!

Now, I already found out the the 800 number given in LAST year’s phone book, the one I have on MY desk , doesn’t exist any more. And when I called directory enquiries, I got given the Phone-Number-That-Is-ALWAYS-Busy. But at least in last year’s book, the INS was listed.

So I got this year’s book from my partner’s desk, and, there is NO listing for the INS! Oh, there IS a listing for INS procurement, for INS financial, even for for INS have-you-been-denied-ajob-call-your-government, but NO address given and NOTHING given for simple info as was in last year’s phone book…

And, of course, I am feeling guilty because I didn’t find out this stuff BEFORE I asked him to drive me there…{insert deep sigh}

So, he said he will call out senator’s office tomorrow and get an address from them and then we will go tomorrow and see what we can find. Meanwhile, I have written down the address that was in last year’s phone book.
