Green Card Blues {part 2}

Well, after all the psyching up I had to do to myself to make the phone call, I found that I was using last year’s phone book, and in this year’s phone book INS no longer has an 800 number!

I called directory enquiries and got the number of our local INS office…local being a few miles away, and tried calling them only to get a busy signal! Over and over and over… Perhaps since these are government people they are taking a long weekend after the Fourth? Or perhaps the telephone number is the wrong one? It certainly isnt the one in the book, but when I called THAT one, it just rang and rang and rang…

I am really irritated about this. If they knew what an effort it was to get myself to call, they should have been there…

I think we may have to drive out there next week and actually talk to a real human being…
