Against Love

Against Love

Love is the excuse used to hurt.

“I only said that {hurtful remark} because I love you.”

Love is used as an excuse not to say what is really on our minds.

“If he really loved me, he would know what I wanted.”

Children are often abused in the name of love.

“This is going to hurt you more than it hurts me.”

Love is very often used as a reason to denigrate a person’s physical appearance.

“It doesn’t matter that you are fat. All the more to love.”

Sometimes love blinds us to a person’s faults.

“Yes, he does hit me but he is always sorry afterwards.”

Love often causes us to overlook things better seen.

“He is my child. I can’t believe he was doing {some awful thing} even though all the evidence pointed to it.”

Necessary discipline is often overlooked in the name of love.

“All children steal at her age. She’ll outgrow it! We don’t need to have her make restitution.”

So true, so true.. and to think of all the things people miss in life because of their continuous quest for the mystery of love.
