OK Movie

Monday, my best friend, her mom and I watched the oh-so-scary-movie-of-Halloween-Resurrection. This movie royally sucked IMO. Most of the deaths were freaking predictable. Here’s an example:

One of the girls (she wears black and Thomas Ian Nicholas has a crush on her) is up on the second floor while the rest of the gang is down on the first floor. Mr. Myers comes up and everyone thinks it’s Freddie–or Freddy can’t remember the exact spelling–and so they think it’s a trick. And what happens? The real Mr. Myers kills the girl. Oh wow what a shock!

Here’s another: Sean Patrick Thomas fights off Michael for a good bit before he grabs two knives and tries to fight off Michael with those. His plan doesn’t work.

Basically, I don’t like slasher horrors because they are soooo predictable. I will give Michael credit though. He does know how to use his surroundings very well. He looked extremely dorky carrying the knife the way he did though.

Here’s a critics take on this film:

“…The only suspense in Halloween: Resurrection is in what order the paper-thin characters will be killed. Michael isn’t terribly creative in orchestrating the slayings. This time around, he’s a no-frills serial killer, relying strictly on knives. There is one decapitation, but it’s mostly stabbings. Director Rick Rosenthal, the man who deserves a share of the blame for Halloween 2, is back at the helm this time around, and, if anything, his work is less inspired. He has a talent for shooting scenes in a way that sucks all possible tension and suspense out of them.

Most of the actors are unknowns, with names like Bianca Kajlich, Daisy McCrackin, Katee Sackhoff, and Luke Kirby. Based on their performances, they aren’t likely to become household names in the near future. The first-billed actor is Busta Rhymes (playing the man in charge of the Internet broadcast), who must have busted something to agree to appear in this. (Then again, if it was good enough for Donald Pleasance…) Promising young performer Sean Patrick Thomas is one of the six guinea pigs, but he will undoubtedly omit this title from his “official” filmography.

There is one curious thing about this movie. The director seems to intend for the audience not to identify with the cardboard-cutout victims, but with Michael. Let’s face it – despite the blank mask and zombie-like gait, he’s the best developed character in the film. Pure evil is more interesting than a vacuum. Towards the end, when one of the survivors decides to go after Michael with a chain saw, I found myself rooting for the venerable villain to grab the saw and turn it on its wielder. Or, failing that, on the crew responsible for making the film. In the end, Michael “dies” again, but that’s just a temporary inconvenience. In fact, just before the credits roll, Halloween: Resurrection offers its only moment of pure, unadulterated horror: the promise of another movie in this woebegone series.

The critic is James Berardinelli. This movie got an overall “D”.

i wonder what the people around me’s lives would be like and sometimes i have to admit it gets to the point sometimes when someone has hurt me so bad as Ryan specifically has..well i have to admit i have wondered what it would be like for them all if i died and just suddenly wasnt able to be me and be everyone’s everything the biggest and most dreadful thing i think is i wonder if

anyone would even notice i wasnt around, that i was gone and alot of times..i think to myself..never aloud but i think..maybe noone would notice and then it hurts even more inside because im always feeling that way when someone..i have to admit most of it in recent years has been Ryan..will hurt me so brutally emotionally that i just feel like i shouldnt..exsist

bleh.. sounds like a pretty tacky movie. :/ ryn: i only mentioned the notie thing, ‘cuz Seanny keeps up with me as much as he can… but lags behind on Cryssle.. and Cryssle feels a little unloved when he does that, y’know? hugs,

RYN: Yeah, I’m hoping he doesn’t have a crush either… I didn’t intentionally lead him on… that’s just the way I am with guys I don’t have any interest in. I flirt and just always seem to get myself into trouble. With the guys I do like, I’m actually very shy. It works in complete opposites!! I dunno… we’ll see what happens I guess. I just hope I’m not digging myself into a hole! 😉 (cont)

In the meantime, I will have to agree with your opinion on slasher movies… they’re just too predictable. I usually go for suspense cause that’s alittle harder to see what’s going to happen. But still at times you can. They just all follow the same don’t-go-into-the-basement-cause-the-light-wont-turn-on-but-i’m-doing-it-anyways criteria. that’s just my opinion though. take care & have a good day

I think that most horror movies suck in general. I saw Final Destination 2 a couple of weeks back, and apart from the death scenes, the story line was pretty poor. I like happy movies better anyway, hee 🙂
