Steroids pt. 2

“Something very important came up and I won’t be able to make it to dinner at 6.”

“You sure you don’t want us to delay our dinner for you?”

“You don’t have to Mrs. Cooper. I’ll probably get something to eat before I come.”

“Oh dear!”

“I’m sorry Mrs. Cooper, it was a joke. What are you cooking tonight?”

“Fettuccini Alfredo with salad.”

“Wow! I just ate but you made my stomach growl some more. I love your alfredo Mrs. Cooper!”

“Yeah, you and almost half the county.”

“Also, keep this to you Mrs. Cooper.”

“What is it?” she ask.

“I want to surprise Victor tonight but I don’t want him to know. Can you have him meet me at the park tonight around 8?”

“Sure, but why don’t you come to dinner and then take him out?”

“I want him to think I’m coming to dinner. When seven comes, tell him to meet me at the park. I’ll take care of the rest.”

After a moments silence, Mrs. Cooper responds, “Okay. I’ll relay the message.”

“Thanks! I gotta bye!”

“Love you Claudia. Stay safe.”

“Love you too!” I quickly hang up the phone. I take a moment to examine the parking lot of the mall. I am alarmed to hear sirens erupt to my right. After coming to a stop, the doors fly open quickly. Two men and a female rush forward towards the buidling.

“Hurry we have a patient who may need to be rushed into the emergency room!” Whirling around, I see a pair of paramedics running into the store. I grab the one closest to me, “What’s going on?” I ask.

“I can’t talk now young lady,” the short, bushy paramedic barks. I let him go so he can proceed to do his job. As soon as I walked towards the dressing room, I noticed the short paramedic racing to it. Instantly, I felt as if I was going to throw up. Something had happened to Alexia! Running forward, I run into the room she was changing into just a few minutes ago. I am disgusted at what the scene: the clothes she was trying on were ripped, blood was everywhere, and one of the mirrors was cracked. Apparently, someone had bashed her head against the mirror. I try to cry, but the tears don’t come. My body is paralyzed. I don’t know whether to run, scream, kick, cry or what. I hear stories of murder, what are you saying? She can’t be…no! She just can’t be dead!

When I went home after going to the gym, my mom told me that Claudia won’t be able to make it to dinner. Instead, I was told she would meet me in the park. My mom said, ‘she wanted you to go to the park and meet her there for some reason, but she won’t tell me why’. I didn’t think too much about it though. If anything, my girl would lure me out into the park so we can spend quality time together alone. Along the way, I pick up some flowers for her. My baby deserves the best!

After settling down in a park bench, I gaze at my watch as it displays the time. The numbers, continues ticking on slowly.

“Hey young man!” someone shouts towards me.

“Yes? Who is it?” I yell.

“You need to come with me.”

“Why?”

“It’s important,” the voice manifested itself into a police officer.

“What’s going on?”

“Sir, we don’t have much time.”

“Why?”

“We received word that your girlfriend was attacked and nearly killed today!”
