The Trip
I decided to go to bed as early as possible so I could get a good amount of sleep. As I wrote in my diary, I woke up pretty early to begin the day. However, I decided not to eat any breakfast because I figured we were going to stop along the way. Anyway, we left around 5:30 a.m. and headed out towards Myrtle Beach.
We stopped in Madison to get some ice. After that, we continued our trek towards MB. We stopped in South Carolina for a bathroom break and then went on the road again. We finally approached the exit for Myrtle Beach and then drove for the next hour and a half to our destination. When we reached Myrtle Beach, the time was around 11:30. About 20 minutes later, we had reached Myrtle Beach and drove around looking for a gas station to fill the Suburban back up. We stopped at a Citgo store to fill up, while Darryl spent time to find a brochure to help us get around. After that, we started searching for a hotel to stay in for the night. Along the strip, all of the hotels had vacancy signs so we decided to try Meridian Plaza.
My dad and brother-in-law went to find out information about the room. Turns out, there were two rooms available and everyone got a chance to take a look at the two rooms.
The first room gave us a corner view of the ocean and was rated “D”. The second room faced the ocean and was rated “A”. In the second room, as soon as you walked in you would see two beds. Further down and to the right is the bathroom. Straight ahead and to the right is the kitchen, and further down is the living room. The living room had a couch, a table with four chairs, a nifty looking chair, and a tv/dresser. On the balcony, you have two chairs and a place to prop up your feet. I took pics of the hotel when we were on the sand. I also took a few pics of the ocean *smiles*.
After we settled on the second room, we decided to go to wal=mart to buy some supplies. The kitchen gave us a stove, fridge, toaster, can opener, coffee maker, etc. so we figured we could save money if we fixed our own dinner. Anyway, we went to Wal-Mart to get our supplies. I got myself swimming trunks and myrtle beach cap.
Then, we stopped back at the hotel and dropped off our groceries. After we did that, we put on our swim wear and made a beeline for the ocean. The last time I went to a beach, was earlier in the summer at Tybee Island in Savannah, Ga. That experience sucked because it was rainy, cold, and wet. This time, the weather was wonderful! I took off my sandals and went through the sand, and to the ocean. On the way, I saw a man and his children dig up a huge hole with their bare hands(!). Anyway, Aerial became really excited and nearly drowned. She was scared and wanted to get out of the ocean as soon as possible. I also observed a couple who was standing in the water and having tons of fun. The girl had her arms around her b/f’s neck and I bet that was romantic *sigh*. The water was great! I stood where the water came to my waist, though every now and then the water would come up to my chest. After that, we all decided to dive into the indoor pool.
As soon as I got in the pool, I experienced a cramp in my left leg. I crawled to the spa so my leg could feel better. After an extended period of time in the spa, my leg felt a little bit better. I spent a good hour and a half in the pool. This time, my right leg got a cramp. That was real painful b/c I tried my best not hurt it any further. I went into the spa again to make sure both legs would feel better. My family decided to leave around 6 and I told them I would be up there in a minute. I spent a good 45 minutes before deciding to head on in. I took a shower, then lounged around on the sofa. I felt really sleepy and drifted off into la-la land.
Darryl made pork chops, rice, and biscuits (I may add it was yummy *smiles*). For dessert, we decided to go this place called Kirk’s ice cream. However, Trice (my niece who isn’t blood related) was pissed because Darryl had gotten on to her. This is why:
Trice had gone ahead of us and ran down 8 flights of stairs to reach the bottom (because the elevators are slow there grrr). I was sitting down watching tv at the time, my mom was busy getting ready, my sister and her children were outside–I think–my brother-in-law and my dad were at the Suburban. When we all gathered around the Suburban, one of us wondered where Trice was. No one knew so Darryl immediately went back towards the hotel to see if she was there. Then, Jocelyn went to see where she was too. Finally, they emerged from the hotel (thank goodness). Darryl got on to her about it but she didn’t take it to well. She was pissed because she felt that he shouldn’t have gotten on to her in that fashion. Well, she needs to realize that we were in Myrtle Beach. Anyone could have gone and took her off and done whatever to her.
Anyway, we headed to Kirk’s to eat. I ordered a cookies n’ cream milkshake, and my mom ordered a black walnut ice cream. Things really got messed up because my sister ordered for her, my dad, aerial, and told the cashier about my and my mom’s order. There was a lady, her name was kelly, who took my order. She gave me my mom’s black walnut first but it took her a good while to give me my order. Then, the guy told my dad the cost would be $12. Kelly told me the milkshake and ice cream would cost $7. I looked perplexed because I thought the order was taken care of. My dad ended up paying for my order. Then, my sister and I discussed the matter and she agreed that the lady had overcharged us $7. After talking to the guy about it, he gave us our money back.
The rest of the night was spent relaxing, and getting ready to leave for to take Trice back. However, I hardly got any rest b/c my mom took up most of the cot *grrr*. I was extremely sleepy when we went up to Fayetteville to drop her off. However, after we dropped her off, I felt more awake and we headed home. Overall, the trip from Fayetteville to Covington took about 4 hours. That’s understandable considering my brother-in-law drove 80 the whole time ^_^.
Sounds like you had fun. I don’t know what is up with my buddy list. I’m not crazy about giving my aol info out on FOD/OD so I’ll either e-mail you my screen name or wait until I catch you.

Sounds like a nice trip! Sometimes those short trips are much better than a long one. I couldn’t help but notice that you are from Georgia. So am I. Just thought I would say hello from the big GA. BTW, how is the beach at Tybee? I’ve never been there but I’ve been to Jekyll Island/umm…the other one near there and it wasn’t the nicest beach. (I’m looking for ideas for a vacation o
