Prom Night nearly completed

After the pictures were taken, our limousine pulls up. Our limousine is a stretch limousine that fits up to 6 people. The limo features black exterior with a matching black interior; we have the following: cell phones, TV and VCR, mood lighting, stereo surround sound, cell phones, privacy dividers, and a moon roof. Troy, Elizabeth, Claudia and I stare around in awe at our transportation for Prom. (The cost was split up between Troy and myself. Also, our families aided in the cost). During our ride, we watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Before the end of the movie, the limo pulls up to our destination: Prom.

As I step out of the limo, I help Claudia out of the limo and we both stare in amazement at the building the rest of the night will be spent in! As Claudia and I step into the convention center, we are both in awe at what we see. All around us, tables dot the center like sea shells on a beach. Towards the middle of the room, there is a huge dance floor which beckons me and my girlfriend to begin dancing; I see a huge stage that is decorated for Prom night—the theme for the night is, “Stary Nights”. I look around and see stars everywhere, on the floors, on tables, and even on the dance floor! The music also blasts into my ears as I inhale the scent of cologne mixed with perfume and the smell of corsages. I look in Claudia’s eyes and our amazement is shared in that one glimpse.

For the rest of the night, we spend tons of time dancing and talking to our friends. The best part of the night is yet to come—the dinner under the stars. I coax Claudia into bringing a change of clothes so that she wouldn’t ruin her Prom clothes. Claudia dresses into blue jeans, a red tank top, and flip flops. I wear blue jeans, and a simple tee shirt with my favorite shoes. We deposit our clothes, on their hangers, in the back of my Cavalier.

“Where are we going?” she asks. There’s a hint of excitement, confusion, and nervousness in her voice.

“You’ll see baby,” I respond. I try hard to conceal my plans.

“Don’t you know I have to be back before 2 a.m.?”

“I know, it’s only midnight. Don’t worry, I will have you back in time for I have to be back before 3 myself.” Keeping my eyes on the road, I drive to the park where I have the best view of the moon. I turn off the ignition and get out of my car. “Come with me baby,” I command softly. Claudia gets out of the car. I can see in her eyes that she is nervous, but I can see a glimmer of trust in those blue eyes. “Close your eyes and I’ll show you why we’re here,” Claudia closes her eyes and I guide her to where a towel is laying with a picnic basket and a rose. “Okay, open your eyes.”

“Oh my, this is BEAUTIFUL!” her eyes light up with excitement, she feels like Icarus—flying high in the air with no restraint. “You did this…for me?”

“Yes I did,” my smile is wider than the Great Wall of China.

“I can’t believe it baby!” she runs up to me, wraps her arms around me and kisses me.

After breaking the kiss, I hand her the rose. “Baby, I’ve been thinking. I know this may sound like I’m proposing, but hear me out. I love you, I really do. What I want is for us to be truthful, be faithful. This is the surprise I had for you. I hope you will take this ring as a token of love. This is just the beginning for us. Please?”

Looking at me pensively, Claudia stares up at the sky. I can imagine her mind running through with thoughts, and possibilities. She tires to speak, but the dam that was in my mouth must have transferred over to hers. “I…I…”

She is not able to respond as a pair of flashlights penetrate into the evening night. A booming voice spears through the silence, “FREEZE!”
