Middle East

Egypt is in the lead on background actions seeking to undermine Hamas’ successes in elections in Gaza and the West Bank. Personally, I think it will be amusing if Hamas manages to win significant positions in Palestine’s government, forcing the US and all others to deal with them politically. As well, I hope that will motivate their shift from half militant and half political to full bore political. I maintain that others should be investigating means to encourage this transition, to rid the world of a terrorist organization without firing a shot. It’s possible, if not probable.

The White House complains about the cost of the Senate’s energy bill and Bush criticizes democrats for trying to boost renewable energy use and mandate cuts in oil imports. Funny, weren’t we seeking to reduce out dependence on foreign oil?

Just as a side comment, is it just me or do others think John Irish and Ashleigh Banfield are married? Isn’t it odd that they both left around the same time only to return on the same day?

I think Bush should just let the senate hold up Bolton as long as the Democrats want. Shows just how utterly worthless the UN is. We need a delegate there like Bush needs advice from Dick Durbin on how to run a war on terrorism. Silly UN. Silly senate Dems.
