American Maturity
I’m dismayed by the level of general angst and venom that continues to flow even after this most venomous(in my opinion, despite the assertions by others that we’ve had worse) election cycle has wrought. THis is most surprising from the “USA all the way, stick together against a common enemy” sorts who should really know better. LIberals, conservatives and others who willfully and flagrantly toss about insults and indulge in backhanded name calling are part of the problem today. I try to reign mine in, personally. Temper by dismay at the way the world is with the knowledge that browbeating and insulting those who I see as ‘off’ won’t change them.
Education will, engaging them will. Or at the very least, it will have a better chance of succeeding rather than pushing them even farther away. Anyone who reads this and is considering writing a post election type of entry, reread it and consider if it’s productive or counterproductive. Then consider if you really want to post it.
As phony as it might be from the candidates, it is time for America to heal and to cease this insane partisan bickering. More than anything, it’s what will be our downfall.
End communication.
What some people mean by heal is heel. The neocons are willing to work with us as long as we come over to their way of thinking. Healing or heeling won’t change thihgs.

-Apologizing for ~Paula’s comment- Well said. I do hope that in spite of our disagreements about very serious things we can be civil, reasonable, and informed, if not gracious.

I couldn’t agree with you more.

Excellent and well said

RYN: I see where you’re coming from, but I’m awfully pissed. I think it’s more about the whole gay marriage issue than anything. It hurt more than I expected.

I think it’s very unlikely that the “election venom” will decrease. Just as people take things personal while driving and get involved in “road rage,” people are taking politics personal. It would really be nice to have people sit down and honestly and calmly figure out the best ways to do things in the country, but I’m not that much of an optimist.

I agree very much with you that we need to stop fighting with each other. I’m doing a little survey asking people to describe their idea of a “perfect President.” Please let me know what you think.
