News – Short Tuesday News
Got work to do, so a smaller one for today. π
Iraq
The double bombing in northern Iraq seems set to bind the Kurds together. Ultimately good for the Kurds and their fight for a state, but a potential headache for everyone else involved.
Israel/Palestine
Buoyed by a poll which says 59% of Israeli’s support pulling back settlements with 34% opposed, Sharon stands behind his planned pull back. So will it be in a few years that there are no Jews in Gaza?
A con argument for the International Court of Justice making a legal judgment on the Israeli Security Fence.
UK
Blair is also looking into the WMD issue. Considering the world got it wrong, I think it to be a good idea overall. Regardless of the blame game, this sort of faulty intelligence won’t fly.
US
The White House is putting forth a policy that could threaten scientific peer review under the guise of promoting sound science. If the outcry from the scientific community is to be considered as valid. Something to keep an eye on.
The president has a pretty big set of expectations for revenues in this year’s budget. A 13% rise in revenues? That’s pretty damn optimistic at a time when it might be prudent to be more pessimistic and cautious.
Another scare at the senate office buildings. Powder testing positive in six of eight tests for ricin.
The WMD commission here in the US may be directed to report back next year rather than this year. As said by the PR man McClellan, they don’t want it to be tainted by partisan politics. Which more or less means they donΒt’ want it to be an issue in the election.
A new memorial has been set for the Columbia crew in Arlington National Cemetery. It seems rather simple and to the point, which I think is good. Better than the fiasco over the WTC monument, which should be the same in aesthetics.
The furor continues over Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s ‘wardrobe malfunction’. NO criminal charges, but now the FCC is involved and CBS is pissed at MTV.
General
The Superbowl ads sized up in the Fray.
Is HDTV porn a good idea? Would the extra clear detail, potentially showing every blemish of porn stars be good for the fantasy involved? I dunno, it is an interesting question though. π
Explainer consider who might get in trouble for Justin and Janet’s little half time stunt. I think that a few heads will roll behind the scenes.
Chatterbox investigates Groundhog Day. How do you know if a groundhog sees his shadow? Well, that’s not quite right. It’s if the groundhog casts a noticeable shadow. More data on this bit of legend is only a click away.
Today’s Papers has army supply shortages, presidential approval rating at 49% and more.

Asking if high-resolution porn is a bad idea is lucicris. Of course it’s a good idea. I don’t like my porn air-brushed. I like, dare I say, organic porn. I like seeing the pores on their skin. I like extreme closes-ups that show the oh-so sparse peach fuzz on their breasts or their bum. Now you’re making me think about watching porn in dolby 5.1 sound. *smirks*

Also, I think high def porn is an ok idea at best. It’s too much work for too little result. I mean, porn is just as good when you’re somehow receiving the half-scrambled signal on Playboy channel. It’s almost more exciting that way! I don’t need to feel like I’m really there. I just need the vague outlines of coitus.
