News – Saddam was Bribin?

Iraq

An investigation may come as allegations surface that Saddam bribed over 260 officials in 50 countries in the west and arab word. Documents published in a newspaper on the subject are being demanded by the Iraqi Governing Council.

The Bush administration finally admits that the intel -may- have been wrong. But of course, it isn’t their fault considering hw secretive Iraq is and oh well, we might never really know what the truth is. I suppose we, as the American people, shall have to be content with Weapons of Mass Destruction Program Activities, a term that could, quite frankly, mean anything. And, of course, this revelation brings further pressure to the British government to fess up as well.

Israel/Palestine

In response to the bus bomb, Israel raids Bethlehem and demolishes the family home of the bomber that blew the bus. Palestinian sources say that twelve people were arrested as well.

Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, spiritual leader of Hamas, has threatened to capture more Israeli solders with the express purpose of trading them for Palestinian prisoners. Hizbollah has also threatened as much, though their reasoning is more specific, wanting one last Lebanese prisoner to be released. Israel has promised to deal harshly with any further kidnappers.

Britain opposes the ICC’s review of the Israel Security Fence. Foreign Office minister Lady Symons says, hearing at the international court on the issue of the wall would “serve to politicise the court in a way for which it was not designed.”

Afghanistan

Seven US soldiers are killed by an explosion while destroying an enemy ammo dump. While some say it was accidental, no decision has been made by the US military as to the cause.

Cuba

Castro says, “I don’t care how I die, but for sure, if they invade us, I will die fighting,” They being the US. One would wonder if Bush has any designs on Cuba.

Germany

The German cannibal, Armin Meiwes, was convicted of manslaughter. His sentence is eight and a half years, which is likely pretty good for him all considered.

US

High-end steakhouse near Walter Reed hospital makes friday nights special for wounded soldiers and their families by dishing out free dinners. Damn fine.

Researches continue to give Diebold’s e-voting machines a failing grade for security, but say fixes could be made before their time comes.

Microsoft releases a $250k bounty on the MyDoom creator now. So that’s a grand total of $500k if you can find and turn in this person. So.. get to it. 😉

There will be no further dealing between Pixar and Disney after their current contract is up. Personally, I don’t see why Pixar needed Disney. They’ve got the best creative talent seen in a long time. Though the article linked here gives things to muse on.

General

More bitching over violent video games. It’s as if parents can’t seem to control what their kids see. Unless parents start monitoring their kids and being involved, even if the stores stop selling to minors entirely minors can get their big friends to buy things. All of these regs, while of good intentions, are ultimately worthless.

Is Boohbah the new Teletubbies? One thing is for sure, they do look like gumdrops with retractable phallic heads. Freaky.. why can’t kids show creators just stick with good old puppets that look like animals?

Today’s Papers has Iran with the prospect of the first US official visit since 1979, three teens from 13-15 released from Guantanimo, the Medicare bill costing a third more than thought before and more news bits.

I can’t stand the whole victim mentality many parents have when it comes to violent games/tv/movies. I am very very strict about what my kids watch and which video games they are allowed to play. I also know that they play GrandTheftAuto and their friends houses (Because they don’t lie to me.. they admit it).. My kids know I do not approve at all and that if they make the choice to play that

stupid game at least we can talk about what they are doing in it.. and how it promotes violence, racism and all the other bullshit.. I also have faith that my kids know my values … and that even if they choose to play the damn game they know it is not with my approval.. and they think about what they’re doing. does that make sense?

I don’t think Bush will attack Cuba… no oil or any other resource that one of his campaign contributors can profit from.

I think the backlash against video games is an attempt for parents to avoid the fact that violent kids spring from crappy parenting.
