News – Where’s the Intelligence?
Iraq
David Kay says everyone was wrong on WMD. No doubt. Considering the international security assessment was just has off, a lot of people have much to answer for. We trust these people with our security and they’re not exactly showing a higher standard of achievement overall. Bt this doesn’t take any of the heat of the Bush administration either.
Hoshiyar Zebari, Iraq’s foreign minister says Saddam’s WMD were carefully hidden. But unless he has some details on where they are, I don’t particularly care what he has to say on this. Enough of these worthless platitudes and assurances, who has the data?
In further strikes on collaborators, a series roadside strikes kills one Iraqi security officer and wounds 13 others.
Israel/Palestine
al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades has claimed responsibility for the suicide bomb that blew an Israeli bus in Jerusalem and killed at least ten Israelis. Fifty were wounded on the crowded bus. Apparently the attack was right outside of Sharon’s official home. More children dead because of two sides who think of nothing but their twisted ideologies. The prisoner exchange noted before went ahead regardless.
Afghanistan
A spring offensive is planned against Taliban and alQueda guerrillas. One wonders how much good these offensive do, considering they keep needing to do them again and again.
Germany
The trial of self confessed cannibal Armin Meiwes will end in a verdict on Friday. He is the one that advertised for someone willing to be, literally, eaten. Someone took him up on it and, as it seems, willingly let himself be killed and eaten by Meiwes.
US
US forces in Afghanistan and Iraq could be boosted by another 30k temporarily. That doesn’t give confidence that this will be done soon, nor do I see military families being happy about the increase. They’ll go with it because that’s their lot and they bear it well, but they won’t be happy.

Explainer explains how Kerry can win polls while Dean is trouncing him in the Delegate count. Yet even as it is now nothing is decided fully.
All fo this BS over finance reform is too damn confusing. You know what should be done? Have every citizen in the US donate a set maximum(perhaps 200-500 bucks at most) into a federal fund that is then equally divided amongst them. That’s all they can use and they’d better make it last. Then money wouldn’t be an issue in politics.
Editor Gerald Marzorati defends the Times sex slave story, but it still sounds over inflated.
General
Nintendo is coming out with a dual screen portable system. Looking at the rumors, I’m a bit leery of this new system. But we’ll see if they come out with something I might drop cash for.
Today’s Papers has drug makers refusing to reveal the results of studies of anti-depressants and children. They cite trade secrets and some who have seen the info claim the data shows them as no more effective than placebos. Kay’s statements and other tidbits lingerin in the one page news.
