Muse – Lyndon LaRouche
Imagine my surprise this evening as, while I watch TV and do my evening thing, I see a paid advertisement for a man named Lyndon LaRouche. Interesting, a democrat candidate I’ve not heard of before.
He’s an odd man at the very least. Full of some interesting and fanciful ideas. He seems to put himself on a pedestal with regard to his own prowess.. more so than most candidates have.
After listening to a little speech that took up a half hour of time, I looked him up on the net. Not in the mood for deep politics, I haven’t read any of them, but I’ve noted pros and cons, as one can assume will be found for any candidate.
I might have to do some research on this guy, to see if he has any bearing as a serious or even desirable candidate. As always, opinions and musings are welcome.
Lyndon Larouche has been around the political rings for quite some time, usually from one of the more fringe parties. He’s had some interesting ideas, but they haven’t been mainstream enough for most of the public to take him seriously as a candidate. Kinda like Ralph Nader. They both run more to raise issues than to get elected, I think.

LaRouche is about as close to fascism as you’ll find (and I don’t mean that in an insulting way, I mean it seriously). I’m surprised you haven’t heard of him. He has a fortified mansion somewhere in Northern Virginia. There are lot of college students who are convinced to drop out of school and work for him, so he’s kind of a cult leader in a sense.

Larouche is a convicted felon, and his culties have been known to be pretty violent with people who speak out against him. He’s been “running” for president for decades now, but pretty much nobody in the universe takes him seriously, besides his following.

Yeah. There’s that pesky requirement set forth by the Democratic National Committee that says potential Democratic candidates have to be registered Democrats (i.e. registered voters, so not convicted felons). This is the man whose newsletter is filled with valuable insights like why the US should colonize Mars and how the band Kiss was a product of British mind control experiments.

Larouche was around back when I was in college, and that’s a long time ago. For a while he created with a 3rd party called the “US Labor Party”, which among other things touted the energy benefits of fusion, but then he decided he was a Democrat. He’s been to prison, and he has a cult following. There are Lyndon LaRouche tables set up by loyal followers here in downtown Berkeley.

LaRouche is crazy.

So I am NOT the only Gaian that uses opendiary instead of livejournal ^^. I am Little Mongoose from the Politics forum. Regretfully, I know nothing about this candidate. From the response, I am guessing that that is a good thing ^^. Anyway, I figured I would drop by and say hello and check into this douche-like candidate…
