News – Los Alamos in the Blooper Reel again
US
Los Alamos has another damn security foul up. Why isn’t this place being viciously attacked by the Dept for Homeland Security? If they have time to bug protestors, they have time to straighten up Los Alamos.
Bush urges everyone to go on with their plans. I, for one, planned to regardless. Security will be annoying, but I plan to arrive three hours before my flight as I did last time. Just in case.
Is our government repressing foreign press in this country unduly?
With the heightened level of alert, cash strapped states are paying more out of pocket for the security precautions called for. Security is good, but it gets hard when there’s little money to pay for it all.
A guy with a hacksaw blade and razorblade in his shoe is being held at Miami Airport. He says he forgot they were there. Depending on where they were in the shoe, that may or may not be believable. But location would bring up even more questions.
A judge has barred forced anthrax shots for military personnel. But Bush could bring it back if he signs a special order.
Iraq
Youssef Khoshi, a chief investigating judge in the northern city of Mosul, was shot and killed by three assailants in a car. One idly wonders if supporters of Saddam would kill off the Iraqi judicial in an attempt to postpone any Iraq based trial. Then again, such things are mere speculation. 😉
South Korea will be sending 3,000 troops to Kirkuk in late April.
Sixty dead found in a mass grave near Brasa.
The mystery of Saddam and the Oregon plates comes to a dead end. The previous owner doesn’t recall it’s selling. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t still be a useful tidbit..
Israel/Palestine
In the wake of an ambush that kill’s two Israeli solders, a raid of tanks on a refugee camp draws fire. During those operations seven Palestinians, armed and otherwise, are killed. Militants declare revenge and the bystanders count their dead.
The UN eyes the Israeli wall from space. Nothing like a clear bird’s eye view.
Did you know that Israel has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty? With this hubbub over secretive nuceal programs, you’d think we would be nudging Israel about it, since they seem to be one of the more aggressive states. What with all the preemptive plans they make in secret. You might be surprised, reading this, the lengths to which Israel has gone to secret it’s nuclear ambitions and capabilities.
Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Maher is attacked by thrown shoes(a Muslim insult apparently) when a situation with one remonstrating worshiper gets out of hand. He should have known better by the sound of it, coming into a holy site all wrong.
Mohammed was eating beans and bread when he heard the soldiers outside. He stood up and ran to close the door, but stopped and turned back when he saw the soldier.
It is not clear what threat the soldier identified from the seven-year-old, but he fired and Mohammed fell dead, still clutching his piece of bread. – We know one thing which causes the hatred, yet it continues.
Iran
Iranian President Mohammad Khatami says Israel would be making a mistake if they attacked Iran’s nuke facilities. One wonders how long until Israel gets some Arab nation pissed enough to actually war with it again.
General
International Papers has world reaction to Libya’s WMD abandonment and what it might mean for Israel.
Lame Wolfowitz and Weapons of Mas Contradiction. Paul out by February? I’d not heard a hint of anything like that.
Today’s Papers has a surge of 9/11 victim filing claims at the last minute, the two-faced method behind Bush’s nuclear madness(you can’t use nukes, but we can) and more general news from the papers.

I can’t say i’m surprised this administration is trying to supress the foreign press. Did you hear that soon, foreigners from places other than Western Europe must be fingerprinted and photographed when they enter the country? I feel bad for that poor dead snake in the picture.
