Me – Ren the Artist: Playing with Hands

This is my first real attempt at drawing. I removed the pics of my first vacation and the movies I took during the second so I had more room, but they’re all on storage. Anyone that wants copies can let me know which they’re interested in. Now, the pic.. feel free to be brutal, it’s a generic start and my first real attempt beyond free hand drawing of geometric shapes.

I was mostly trying to work with proportion of fingers, thickness and lenght. The lenght was easier than thickness really.

Just let the pencil go. Not litaraly, juts let what happends happen. it wont always be good (rarly is for me) but it will be good priactice for when you want to do something more delibaret. and you never know, some random duddle could become a great master peice. just keep drawing, any thing and every thing. this is a really great start.

Wow! You started with the hardest thing of all!

I’m impressed….. My son is really getting into drawing…. and hands are definitely the hardest for him so far..

Hands! Go easy on yourself, really. There are people I know who have been at it for decades and have yet to get hands right. Michealangelo never figured out how to do proper hands, look and you’ll see what I mean. But for a first attempt, not bad, but to keep from getting too frustrated I’d work on something else besides 🙂

Excellent.

When you look at something you’re drawing, remember, try drawing what’s there, not what you think the object looks like. All artists started from the basics, so just continue what your doing. Maybe start a sketchbook of still lifes. Also, draw larger. Drawing larger gets you to pay more attention to detail. Good job so far… just keep it up, and you’ll get better.
