Muse – Ads Begone, Complaints Be Civil
Approximately two weeks ago I slipped the DM a note after reading some entries about the annoyance of seeing notes on OD Plus diaries without logging in. And now it has been fixed. Now, I don’t claim I was the grand catalyst of this fix. I doubt I was more than one voice amongst many calling for this fix.
The point is, as some haven’t seemed to grasp in the here and now, fighting is no longer required, for the most part, to get things changed on OD. The past was nasty, yes indeed. Call it what you will, I’ll coin it, “The Silent TImes”. However you spin it, we in diary land were mostly on our own and left to speculate what the DM was up to.
Some gave him the benefit of the doubt. Other’s didn’t. I’ll admit, though I worried some I was of the former camp. Hoping that the DM was just occupied or planning and just didn’t have the presence of mind to let us know about it.
Now things have shifted. The DM has ‘returned’ and OD is largely improving(though some still vary on if that is so). Consolidated and simplified on the back end, tweaks coming on the user end, with some nifty features on the horizon for we who shell out the cash. Less cash now, with the price dropped to a mere twelve bucks.
The moral of this story isn’t as important as the reality of the now. In the now, we can ask for things to be done and have reasonable expectations for them to be addressed. The days of needing long, irate entries complaining and defaming the DM with various groundless insults are past. History.
The anarchy is passe and its time for some of our kin here to grow up.
After all, we’re largely adults here, yeah? Our diaries windows into our true selves? Reflections of who we really are. Read your entries and consider if that is who you really are.
If you have a problem, note and/or email the DM. Encourage those who agree with you to also note and/or email the DM on the issue. Be clear, concise and thorough. But most of all be civil. In the past, derision aimed at the DM had some slight justification in his absence. But now that he’s ‘here’ more, don’t knock a good thing by continuing with the same bitchy, standoffish attitude.
We may be the heart of OD, but he’s got the body of it. We’re a team here and we need to act like it, rather than acting like rivals.
Pure and simple.
Have a good night dear readers.
I was a regular here on OD about a year or two ago, but got fed up with all the fighting, diary spamming circles, multiple diaries per user and a bunch of other crud. I had to admit, I like it more now, though it does tend to send my pop up stopper into conniptions at times. I have a personal dislike of the install on demand requests but i guess it pays the bills…

The Silent Times. I like it, Mister DarkRen.

During The Silent Times, I wanted to believe in Bruce so badly. But, I kept silent, because there was no way to justify it. I read his entries. I leave notes. If I find a problem, or I have a suggestion, I note him.

The simple fact that Bruce reinstated me shows that he does have compassion. If I had any doubts about him, he won me over with that. Any problems that do arise with OD, people need to realize that nothing is perfect.

Good entry, it’s time to give things a chance and not hold grudges.

Bah, that note was supposed to have my name on it :p

Strange, I’m signed in, but it still just shows squares instead of my name. Bet you know this is Luriana 😉

I’ve sent the DM several error report emails, I’ve never gotten any kind of response, and since most of those bugs & errors are still happening, well….. 🙁

Am I wrong, or is there still a diary circle problem where (for example) non-political diaries are showing up incorrectly in the politics circle? I sent an email to the DM about this last week, and haven’t a) gotten an email reply, b) seen anything in the DM’s diary about this, or c) seen any change in the situation. I don’t know what’s going on–am I imagining that there is a problem?
