Log – Through Darkness to Illumination (1/6)

Intro: This thing is freaking huge. :p Oh well. 🙂 RP log from Contrary again.

** Begin Contrary Description **

A six foot eight inch female with a healthy build mixing a strong musculature with enough rounded curves to define her gender. In few places can one see traces of her grey fur. She has a muzzle, yet the details of it are hidden behind a carefully tied mask that covers it, a ball cap on her head, turned backward with only traces of silvery hair slipping from under it. Her eyes, silver with grey irises are the only solid feature visible.

She wears a solid black pullover over her full chest topped by a black leather jacket tat is left open, revealing the blunted nature of her figure, as if something else is worn below the pullover. Snug pants of smooth black leather hug her legs gently, tucked into the sturdy boots she wears.

Her wrists are bound by black leather bands that are lined with a double row of silvered studs, her hands bearing a pair of black leather palm gloves. A slim black choker is wrapped about her neck, a small ivory skull mounted at its center, above her throat.

Soon after midnight, Contrary makes her way into the Dregs for the first time. Dressed darkly, in a makeshift attempt at disguise, she comes south, walking along the side of the street. She’s alert, though there are few living bodies around the neighborhood so late. She tries to maintain a pace that’s quick, but not obviously hurried, her hands thrust deep in her pockets to keep them still. Her nervousness has risen when she reaches the first intersection, pausing at the corner to look around for a landmark. Taking a few steps toward the crooked, street sign that indicates which streets she’s on.

Amongst the poor and downdrodden that Dregtown is reknowned for, there are a handful of the Morlock gang in the area. Unusually, they are not clumped together right now. A couple of them are walking out from what is known as the Barrens. These two are conversing about Morlock things as they do their usual scan of the area. Another Morlock is south of the entrance to the Barrens. He seems to be arguing with the resident of a small shack set up in the street. Nothing too unusual there. West of all three of them is yet another Morlock. He seems to be looking back behind him as he walks into the area – waving to his comrades in arms he had likely just passed by somewhere to the west of here.

For those that do not know they are in fact, Morlocks… They would be quite obviously an organization of armed thugs, that seem to patrol the areas of Dregtown. Each is armored head to toe at night, and carries an assortment of weapons. While there is variety in this, they most always have a mix of conventional, and anti-undead weaponry. If one were so inclined, and could sense this… each of these Morlocks is nothing more than a normal human being. No psionics or magic PPE can be detected from them. As of yet, you seem to be unnoticed by the gangers.

Contrary gets her bearings, slowly realizing she’s close. She looks down the street toward the entrance to the Barrens, her gaze pausing as she checks.. yes. It hits her then that there are armed thugs around the area and she quickly takes a few steps back to the corner, slipping behind it, peeking around the corner. Her eyes narrow as she watches the armed, armored men go on about what seems like natural business. And blocking her path. She spends a few moments at least, nearly a minute thinking and watching the gang members, not looking to be pleased with the situation.

If one were to expand their field of investigation above the streets, they may notice a figure upon a rooftop. This rooftop is on the northern side of the entrance to the Barrens. The figure’s sillouette would let on that he (it appears male) is humanoid in form, and probably wearing some sort of armor. However, he is unarmed as he moves from one side of the building to the other. The figure crouches and looks around. All this, while the Morlocks below go on about their business. The one to the south pushes the hapless man of the shelter – knocking him down. The two men who have left the Barrens have stopped as they investigate something. The man from the west is just walking into the area still.

Contrary frowns when she sees the thug push the poor guy. But a moment later she pulls back and glances down the street the way she came. Looking for a good alley. She missed the guy on the roof and now takes a few steps back the way she came as she looks for a potential alleyway that might get her around the gangers and into the barrens. Worth a try.

With your skill, and a bit of luck, the gangers have somehow not laid eyes on you as you backtrack down alleyway. The Morlock to the south continues to beat the hapless shack owner – repeatedly slamming his metal boot into the man’s ribs. The poor man’s sounds of pain and suffering can be heard throughout the area, but no one apparently cares. Or more likely, no one can actually do anything about it. The Morlock from the west eventually will meet up with the two near the entrance to the Barrens, and join in on their conversation. Finally, the figure on the rooftop has disappeared to somewhere. Without the Morlocks on your trail, you would eventually find an alleyway that leads you to the Barrens of Dregtown. However, what might lye waiting for you there, you may not know.

Contrary grits her teeth as she makes her way carefully, slipping carefully around unbalanced trash cans and stepping over various litter. She can hear what’s going on. Whether she can’t or is just unwilling remains unspoken. Her nose wrinkles slightly at one particularly pungent pile of.. something that she keeps from observing any more than necessary. When she finds a spot that might get her into the Barrens unnoticed, she takes it, though she’s careful yo keep an eye out for any watchers a she slowly sneaks her way in.

Dregtown – Gang Barrens

You make you way through the barricade. The street has been neglected for years, but remains reasonable clean in recent months. There are several small homes in varied states of decay. The houses that look somewhat livable have bars on the windows and security doors in place. Those in the worse stages of decay are boarded up.

Almost everything here seems spray painted and the one word that stands out is the phrase “Morlocks”. Gang members pass through the area often, but do not tend to travel to the north of this point. The city wall looms off in distance to the east. Occasionally you hear a scream or the sound of gunfire. The few people other than the gang members you do get a glance of look quite despondant and they are filthy. They shy away from any advances with practiced fear. What can be causing the terror of the poor residents of the area.
