News – Saudi Arabia is No Ally

The current word? The US knew about the bombing in Saudi Arabia and requested tighter security from the Saudis. Obviously they didn’t get it and after a US rebuke, they admit they screwed up. That’s a pretty bitter pill to swallow. Meanwhile the Americans who lived at the villa which was hit mull their options.

Powell makes a statement that the US has no designs on military action against Iran. Personally, I want to hear that from Rummy’s lips. And Bush’s.

Another Israeli incursion results in more deaths. Two gunmen and one 12 year old boy. Sharon needs to be stopped. Because he won’t stop himself, until Palestine has been subjugated. Which will not happen until every last man, woman and child is dead. This bull has gone on long enough. Sharon needs to be sidelined, just like Arafat was.

China is getting even more serious on SARS. Threatening execution for those who voluntarily violate quarantine. But if someone is so daft as to endanger the lives of others by trying to escape it.. well. What can one say? Let the person spread the infection or stop them from potentially dooming many others?

Apple’s Music Store has sold 2 million tracks from its selection of over 200k in the 16 days since it went live. And that was just from the Macintosh community. A windows version of software to access it is in the works, due by the end of the year.

American forces made a pre-dawn raid on an as of yet unnamed village and purport to have taken 65 prisoners, including one of their 55 most wanted, two army generals and one of Saddam’s security force generals.

It was Jack Straw’s turn to do the 180 on WMDs. Oh, finding them now isn’t important cause the UN inspectors made enough a case for war before. It’s sad to see the brazen have to meekly turn tail when they can’t find the real evidence, trying to bluff us into believing we had it all along.

Human rights workers accused the US of negligence yesterday in not protecting a mass grave, which Iraqis had unearthed three thousand bodies from. Now they fear any forensic evidence that could be gathered from the site is tainted. Though some have more sophisticated opinions: “The failure really is of the international community who did not provide these people with an alternative,” said Peter Bouckaert, the senior emergencies researcher with Human Rights Watch. “This is like going pigeon hunting with a tank.”

Indeed.

Today’s Papers covers all bases, as well as a note of the prior Saudi partial cooperation when it comes to sharing data with the US. The most recent incident is hardly new. As well, there’s a statement from a top army commander that former Baathist forces are running around Iraq, wreaking havoc. And more! The news never seems to stop.

The Jessica Lynch story. A tale with two distinct versions. Was her rescue a modern fairy tale or was it a fabrication, overblown from what really happened? I suppose it comes down to, who do you believe right now?

Another spot on Rummy’s bid to lighten up the army. Some valid issues are brought up when it comes to his plans and why they can’t be applied too widely.

What do you think? Is the Matrix really about religion? Hmmm. Me, I don’t worry much about that stuff. Here’s an interesting, if negative review of the movie. I read most of it, but skipped parts that started to lay out the plot.

What’s holding back the flying car? Quite a few slight issues. Mostly mundane annoyances that will keep them from being mass marketable until fixed.

Fascinating and giggle inducing; a grand way to start my workday. Thank you again. 🙂

As Danny Glover would say (regarding Powell, Rummy, and Bush), ‘If the massa’s planning an invasion, he ain’t gonna tell the house n*gger’.

ryn~ i’m sure you know me well enough to realise i avoid extremists. i am looking for a positive experience, i’m not on a quest for holy war. why is it all the people i know think that all religion must be bad because of a minority of idiots’ extreme actions? i feel as though everyone thinks i was more sane as an anorexic than someone choosing organised religion.

There was a very religous tone in the Matrix Reloaded, but I thought the film was amazing! A plot/spoiler free review is already in my a diary… Later,
