Ride for the Roses ‘n stuff…

As usual, my e-pals and “real” life friends have given me tremendous support. I am truly blessed. The past couple of weeks have been really difficult, but things are improving daily. Thanks to everyone for the e-cards, emails, notes, and phone calls. *warmfuzzy*

So…where to begin?

Accident News…

My truck damage was mainly cosmetic ($1972.00 to be exact). The only mechanical issue was my tailpipe. You know how most are supposed to be straight? Well, Mr. 2004 Infiniti bent mine into a nice pre-pretzel shape. The mechanic couldn’t believe that my truck even started with that kind of damage. Anyway, there was no harm done to the muffler, so I escaped with a $107 bill.

The fucked up accident news? There’s a Texas law that will most likely help the driver avoid having to take financial responsibility for the wreck. Apparently, if there isn’t a pre-existing medical condition to cause a person to faint/black out while driving, they aren’t held responsible. Can you believe that shit? This man hit 4 cars and State Motherfuckin’ Farm doesn’t have to pay for our damage? What a crock. While I’m at it…let me put Mr. Jay H of State Farm on blast: You are the biggest dickhead on the planet. While insurance agents aren’t supposed to be extra friendly, you are a sorry sack of shit. [/end PSA]

So…our insurance companies will be battling State Farm over this issue. I’ve been in contact with the other drivers and we’ll most likely file suit against the driver. Even though I can file a claim on my own insurance to get the damage fixed, that’s just wrong. I wasn’t at fault. He was. End of story. I feel so bad for the guy that was behind me. He was driving an old minivan and it’s totaled. The $ that Allstate gave him for the vehicle wouldn’t even be enough to get a decent used car. None of us are trying to get rich off this incident…we just want our vehicles repaired. I’ll keep you posted on the outcome. If State Farm refuses to pay out, we’ll be heading to court.

Work Stuff…

Nothing major going on. We recently had an agent appreciation day (celebrity theme), followed by a company picnic at Lone Star Park. I walked the red carpet as Beyonce…wig…full makeup…and gaudy canary diamond ($2.99 Party City special). Very Bootylicious. A coworker will be posting the pics soon…and I’ll share, of course.

My agent tickets were just awarded for last quarter, so I have a trip to plan. 🙂

Issues…

Today is my second day of clean eating. I think I’m done with the stress foodfest. I didn’t even attempt to control it. I’m stubborn…so I just let it run its course and bounced back. My grief group is really a godsend. I am feeling a lot better about the situation…and it’s helping me feel less tense in the car. I can’t live my life being afraid.

Speaking of issues…I did some preliminary interviewing with a major publication. I’ll find out in a few weeks if I’m chosen for the weight loss feature. I’m not going to say anymore until I know what the deal is…

Ride for the Roses Weekend…

It’s here! I questioned if I would be up for the ride last week, but I’m ready for it. It will take a lot more than this drama to keep me from supporting the cause. I received over $500 in internet donations for LAF. You all believed in the cause and ME…so my phat ass will be riding on Sunday. LOL

My mommy is coming to Austin to cheer us on! I feel strange doing this event without JerseyGirl, but I guess Cassie needs her more than the Tri Divas do. :p

Saturday night, Chesty and I are attending A Conversation with Lance:

The Lance Armstrong Foundation invites Peloton Project members and the general public to “A Conversation with Lance”, an educational event focused on cancer survivorship. Lance will be interviewed about the unique issues faced by the millions of people living with cancer. There will also be a question and answer session from a select panel of cancer survivors. The event which is sponsored by Wells Fargo, will take place on Saturday, October 16, from 8:00-9:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center with doors opening at 7:00 p.m.

The ride is Sunday morning. I can deal with the cool weather, but please say a prayer for no rain. Last year’s conditions were miserable.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I’ll be back on Monday with a report/photos. Thanks again for the kind words…

I am sooooo glad you are hanging in there and you sound good, like you are doing ok. Insurance companies must pay legislators and lawmakers to create ass hole laws like that, I hope you fight for and get what you deserve! Maybe your clean eating will rub off on me. I sure as chit need a few days clean and then I’ll be in the clear.

Insurance company agents are real dick heads girl, I’ve dealt with two and they are amongst the most despicable humans on the planet. But you have to stay on them to get what you deserve… Best of luck and it was great to hear from you and know that you are well.

I’m glad you’re feeling better. 🙂 I’ve missed you but I totally understand about needing to take time to re-group. A Diva Hooker is gonna ROCK OUT at te LAF ride! Mow down that bitch Cheryl Crowe and ride side by side wif yo man! I’ll be praying for an easy ride and NO RAIN for the Diva’s. Bring me too bike studs….I’M FEELIN SAUCEY! I love ya!

Insurance companies are one of the tools of Satan, I’m convinced. Glad to hear things are better — just don’t give up!–

YAY, it’s good to see you post! I missed you!! HEY, don’ forget about a sister!! I can be your “stylist!” Smooches…

Glad to hear all the positive things going on and life turning around for you (other then the messed up car insurance situation). I was saying prayers for you sister. You are my rock. I am turning things around too. Back on JC after my 5 days at Disney last weekend. Time to get serious again. Onederland awaits. I decided to not see my #’s on the scale until my birthday Nov 19th. So glad to see your post today! My heart jumped a bit when I saw your name highlighted with a new entry! I have wondered about you every day. Yes, insurance companies are really evil–mine dropped me recently because….I MADE CLAIMS! Is that not what insurance if FOR? If anything, statistically speaking, the fact that we had an accident THIS year would say we are less liable to have one next

October 16, 2004

YAY!!!! There’s the diva!!! 🙂 Hmmmm…. not so sure I want to change to State Farm now, even if they CAN lower my insurance costs…. But maybe the ones in IL are nicer than those in TX 🙂 Best of luck in the ride!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Wish we could donate more!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 *HUGS*

goodluck for your ride tomorrow. i have really missed your entries lately, but i know and appreciate the difficulties that you have been facing. you need to be focused for your efforts. try to think positive. my mom always said to me that God never sleeps. so all that needs to be done will be done. don’t fret about the accident and the damage that it has caused but use that energy to achieve your

…goals. all the best from carol (Birmingham, U.K)
