Interview with the Diva…

Asked by autumnwhispers…

1. What are three major events in your life that have made you who you are today?

*At age 10, my family was involved in a car accident while driving to Louisiana for Christmas. My great-grandmother and I argued because I didn’t want to wear my seatbelt. After going back and forth, I finally agreed to put it on. Less than 2 hours later, an 18-wheeler lost control in the rain and put us in a ditch. Being in the front seat, my life was saved because of the belt. My great-grandmother died a week later from injuries. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye. Our last words were said in anger. The incident made me realize how precious life is…and your loved ones need to be told regularly how special they are.

*Being awarded the highest honor (Gold Award) in Girl Scouts (after 12 years of membership, it should have been platinum). The ceremony was held at the Capital building in Austin and recognized recipients from all parts of Texas. Each girl was called up individually to accept the award from the governor. My only complaint? Guess who was governor of Texas in May 1995? It would have been very cool to get my award from Ann Richards. 🙂

*The turning point that caused me to join WW. Who knew that a trip to Mardi Gras would turn into a major weight loss battle???

2. Is it shallow minded of us to think we’re the only intelligent life in the universe?

Absolutely. How could we be so arrogant and believe we’re the only ones? We are providing great entertainment for a colony of folks on Mars. American culture is the ultimate punch line. LOL

3. Does everything happen for a reason or do we create our own destiny?

I believe everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for everyone.

4. If you had to leave words of advice to those who follow you, what would it be?

Believe in yourself. It sounds cheesy and YMCA-ish, but it’s important. If you think you suck, everyone else will think the same. :p

5. Has WW affected you more mentally or physically?
Mentally. Changing my thought process has been much more difficult than dropping the pounds. I have some major resentment towards society and the way overweight people are viewed and treated. Issues, issues…
