I am in love…
…with Lance Armstrong. What an amazing man. *sigh*
I went shopping yesterday with Red and Roxie. Long story, somewhat short: A couple of weeks ago, Red went to gas up her car. One of the 3 hoses was missing from the pump, so she used an alternate (thinking that it wouldn’t matter as long as she selected the right grade). Well…as soon as she flipped the switch, gas starts shooting from the top of the gas pump. Red was covered in gasoline. She went into the store to alert the clerk (while another customer used the emergency switch). Red waited a couple of minutes to be acknowledged by the employee. When she finally got her attention and explained what happened, the clerk simply looked her over…and ate a potato chip. Red ended up yelling at the gas bitch and left. Can you imagine how scary that was? She didn’t even know if it was safe to start her car! Red went home, showered several times, had a drink, and called the gas company’s home office. She talked to the district manager, who did some major ass kissing and told Red to go buy an outfit/accessories to replace the damaged items and bring her the receipts for everything. Now, Red knows she could have easily made this a court issue to get more $, but decided to take the manager’s offer because she wasn’t injured.
Back to shopping, we hit Origins first to buy Red’s expensive shampoo and conditioner (she’s making them replace that too…after 4 washes to remove the gas, she was a bit low…LOL) Next was Lane Bryant to pick up some hippie wear. I’ve mentioned that I’m on the employee satisfaction committee at work, right? Well, Monday is the beginning of Employee Appreciation Week and we have several spirit days planned (in addition to hotels/airlines bringing food and free nights/plane tickets). Tuesday is 70s/80s day and we needed some retro garb. Red and I decided it was too hot for legwarmers and cutoff sweatshirts (LOL), so we’re going to honor the 70s instead. I got a very cool shirt…size 14/16! Granted, it was generously cut, but to even be able to put the size on made my day! I also purchased a tan newsboy hat and gold “L” shaped earrings. Gold eye shadow and lipstick will complete my Foxy look. 🙂 Wednesday is Western Day, and Roxie is letting me borrow her jeans and boots. It will be interesting to see if I can squeeze my Black Girl Booty (BGB) in her size 18 Rockies! I think I’ll tape my insurance card to my shirt in case I pass out from lack of circulation.
Chesty and I are heading to the gym this morning to take a spinning class. The bike seats are brutal, but definitely good prepartion for the tri.

That’s -really- scary; spilling gasoline is not like spilling coffee or kool-aid, like some annoying thing that you just have to clean up. It’s really, really bad for your body. I wouldn’t have gone home to shower — I would have gone to urgent care or the ER, no joke.–

I love reading your entries including your points rendition which is very, very helpful. I think you are such a peppy, spirited & devoted woman and I am much in awe of your constancy with regards to weight loss. And yes, I second that emotion re Lance Armstrong!!!

That’s awful! I hope they fired the worker. I am sometimes shocked at how people who work with the public treat them; when I worked for a pharmacy I would have been fired for not acting like the customer’s every tiny annoyance was my fault-and when it really was, major ass kissing was, of course, a must.

I am a newcomer perusing this circle, and I found your diary really inspiring. I am trying very hard to lose weight right now (but have other factors affecting me), but your enthusiastic and positive approach is awesome. I’ll be back for more. 🙂
