Biker Diva…*updated*

I picked my bike up from the shop yesterday! I guess I’m a bit excited because that’s one more TRI component removed from the list. I eventually want to get a road bike, but the mountain bike with road tires is fine for a beginner.

My company created the Exclusively YOURS® employee recognition program that is marketed to other companies/organizations. The concept is also used in our office and I received a nice award credit for referring another employee. After greedily flipping through the catalog, I finally decided to order my Trek. The bike retails for $449.00 and I only had to pay $90 out of pocket. What a deal!

Now…for the bike shop follies…oy vey. The owner brings my bike out and tells me to “hop on!” Umm, I don’t “hop” anywhere, mister. Too much booty for that. The handlebars were positoned perfectly and the seat needed a slight adjustment. I proceeded to ride around the store until he was satisfied. LOL I hadn’t been on a bike (except for those hateful machines in spinning class) in 12 years and it showed. 🙂 I’ll be riding it around the neighorhood this weekend, so I can test it out in normal conditions.

For the techies that care:

FRAME Oversized Alpha™ Aluminum offers the increased durability and strength to handle the most rugged trails.
SUSPENSION RockShox Judy TT fork (80mm travel) smooths out trails and paths.
WHEELS Matrix 750 rims provide superior braking, while Bontrager Jones AC tires roll fast over off-road trails.
COMPONENTS Shimano crank with Shimano Alivio 24-speed shifting.

I lost 0.6 this week. I’m still baffled by the mystery triathlon gain last week, but my body does whatever it wants. I know I’ll have a big loss in the near future and everything will even out. 🙂

Awesome! And only $90? You made out like a bandit.

Very cool. If we move to Idaho, I’m going to make AP buy me the bike I wanted last year as a consolation prize. 🙂
