Christmas, a Concert & Other Updates
So, it’s been awhile since I’ve written. It’s not that there’s nothing to write about, I’m just lazy.
Hubby and I are going to Oklahoma for Christmas. We weren’t sure if we were going to be able to but we are. My mom is going to help pay for our hotel stay in Tulsa, which helps. And we’re staying with my Grandmother when we visit her in the small town outside of Tulsa that she lives in. Of course, I keep asking myself if I didn’t learn anything from the last time I stayed there. Apparently the answer is no, I didn’t. But then again if it makes the difference between going and not going then I guess it’s worth it in the end. We’re taking Sara with us. That should be fun. We bought her a better crate for traveling. A light-weight one, made out of tent material. Last time we traveled with her like this we took her metal one and that thing is a beast. Since we have a Hyundai Accent to carry it in we have to put the crate in the floorboard between the back bench seat and the front seats, which means we have to move it every time we need to let her out. This new crate is all of 23 pounds, much lighter, much easier to move 8,593,891 times. Anyway, I set the new crate up and she was a bit confused by it. Hubby got her in it with a toy but she still seemed confused. We’re going to replace her metal crate with this one sometime this weekend so she has a chance to adjust to it before we leave for the trip. Don’t want to spring it on her when we leave and have her feeling completely displaced and confused.
I had a band concert last night. Actually, an ensemble performance. Every other year the town the band is out of does a “Walk on Main Street”. They open up some of the old houses for tours and the end of the tour is the church, where people can come in, get some coffee and watch the music awhile. So, since November our band has been broken up into small groups. I was in the Woodwind Quintet which consisted of a Flute, a Clarinet, a french horn, a bassoon and me playing the Oboe part on flute since our band is oboe-less. It was pretty cool though we seriously screwed up one of the songs. At the end I got quite the compliment from our band’s Vice President. He said he never realized what a fine flute player I was. I think I turned at least 3 shades of red as I thanked him. Then he went on to say that I should be playing 1st. Our band President (also the bassoon player from our ensemble) backed him up and told me to elbow my way up there. Then they both joked about having a chair test in the flute section. I told them I’d like to eventually play first but have been staying put on 2nd since we’re balanced out with me there. I don’t really care if I play first or second part as long as I get to play and as long as I get to play piccolo, which I do, so I’m happy. 🙂
Of course yesterday, the day of the concert, I wake up sick. Figures, eh? Not horribly sick but sick enough to be annoying. I took some Airborne and some decongestants and felt a bit better. I’m generally okay as long as my nose isn’t stuffed up and my throat isn’t overly sore. I did, however, feel really guilty knowing I was putting everyone at risk coming to the concert sick. I couldn’t exactly just skip it though since I was in the quintet.
I’m still looking for a job. I’m going to be applying for a Pharmacy Technician position at the Pharmacy hubbys brother works at. He’s bringing me an application. It sounds like it might be an interesting/challenging job and it’d get my foot in the door in the medical world. I’d have to work towards getting a certification but the job requires no previous experience and is all on the job training.
Other than that there’s not a lot else to report. I may come back later and do a quiz thingy or two. But for now I’m off to find other ways to amuse myself.
