Random Stuff

So, band is pretty boring this time of year. We started our Christmas music two weeks ago. It doesn’t matter how someone tries to arrange Christmas music to make it fun it’s still the same ‘ole music over and over and over and, well, you get the picture. Every year it’s the same stuff.

Did I mention that I’m running for band secretary? I can’t remember if I mentioned that here or in my other journal. I got asked by the nominating committee if I would be interested in running. It’s a pretty easy job, pretty much taking care of the members contact info and approaching new members to get their contact info and stuff. Being part of the board like that would also include me on the inner-workings of the band and I’d get to help make decisions and such for what concerts we accept and turn down, stuff like that. It should be fun and I should get it because so far no one else wants to run. For some reason volunteering to take care of the bands Excel spreadsheets doesn’t appeal to many people. 🙂

Last week we took care of our neighbors cat. She wasn’t quite comfortable around us really, we’d only been to their house just a few times. She had let me pet her a couple times but only briefly. Anyway, they take care of our cats while we’re on vacation and we’re right next door so naturally we were a good choice. I spent the first day sitting on the floor rolling toys to her and talking softly to her. The second day I brought out her little glove thing, you put it on your hand and it has little nubs for brushing. I wasn’t sure if she’d come to me but she did, she didn’t seem to be able to resist the glove. So that’s how we bonded. I had hubby come over and use the glove on her too. After that she was best friends with both of us. She was meowing at us and playing with us and following us around. It’s funny the little things that will make a kitty trust you. We earned Victoria’s trust with milk. When we took her in she stayed under our bed for nearly a week. Hubby finally thought to get some milk for her and that did it, she drank it and finally started coming out and letting us pet her.

Anyway, not a whole lot planned for this weekend. Hubby needs to finish a wall he’s taping. I need to go through the tubs and tubs of clothes I’ve been hoarding and donate the ones I don’t need to keep. I have clothes from high school still. I have a hard time parting with them, it’s silly really and I just need to do it. I already started on the two tubs I have in the guestroom. I got two down to one. I need hubby to get everything else out of storage for me. I have a few things I’m hanging on to for now and if I don’t wear them during the seasons they’re intended for they’re gone at the end of that season. I have too much crap.

We also have to cut up a tree that fell, hubby wants to start on that tonight. When Ernesto came through here as a tropical storm we lost two trees (that we know of). One across the beginning of our trail in our woods and one in the middle of our yard. We need to walk our trails and property to make sure we didn’t lose anything else that matters, y’know more across the trails or onto fences and whatnot.

Anyway, guess I should go for now. I should try to get a little cleaning done before the weekend.
