So, it’s been awhile. I haven’t felt much like writing lately but I guess that’s pretty obvious. I’ve been reading even though I haven’t noted anyone in awhile.
Life has been kind of stressful for a little while and I’ve been struggling with my depression. I’ve been planting myself in front of the TV for long periods of time lately.
Anyway, we had our final band concert of the summer last Friday. Friday morning my piccolo broke and I had some serious piccolo playing to do at the concert. One song where I’m pretty important and very exposed. So, I freaked out! The local repair shop I use was able to help me out though, they did a temporary repair on it although they couldn’t guarantee it’d hold through the concert. It did, sort of. I got through the concert well enough (I wasn’t able to play middle or low octave F’s, prior to the repair I hadn’t been able to play F or F sharp). I took the piccolo into the repair shop for a real repair Saturday morning. I got it back yesterday.
Hubby and I have been doing lots of swimming in the pond. Yesterday we took the canoe out. I have to admit I’m afraid of canoes. Last time I used one was on the Arkansas River with my evil ex-stepmom steering. We ended up hitting a tree and falling out of the canoe. I had to be pulled from the water by a guy who happened to be sitting on the side of the river with some of his friends. Anyway, since then I haven’t really trusted or liked canoes. Anyway, after much debating with myself I finally got into the canoe and we took it out around the pond. Hubby taught me how to steer and paddle the canoe and though still somewhat nervous I feel a little more comfortable with it.
Tomorrow I’m flying to Oklahoma. Just me, hubby is staying here. I’m nervous because of lots of new experiences. For one, I’ve never flown alone. For two I’ve never flown Southwest but everyone I know who has loves them. And for three I’ve never connected through Chicago Midway, I’ve only been through O’Hare. I’m sure everything will be fine though. Anyway, I’ll be in Oklahoma visiting my family for a week. I’ll probably update at least a couple times while I’m there. 🙂
For now I should go. I need to go pick up a couple things at the store.
