More Loan Stuff and Other Things

Ugh, well, the home loan stuff is back up in the air. Hubby’s dad basically said we were making a mistake by not going with the higher offer, which is 20k more than the offer we took. We also spoke to Ditech who can get us a better deal on the smaller offer. So now we’re either going with the larger offer from the guy we were originally working with or taking the smaller offer but from Ditech.

We didn’t realize it but our credit scores and stuff look good enough that we can shop around a little, so that’s what we’re doing. Either way we should still have our loan by the end of the month or the very beginning of December. Hopefully we’ll get the larger offer approved just fine and go with that. That’ll be enough to get everything done we need done. Then once our credit scores look better we’ll do a whole refinance with Ditech and roll the home equity loan into the mortgage, once that’s done maybe we can think about buying an SUV. 🙂

I am suddenly reminded, I need to get hubby to get ahold of the guy that we want to work on my car!! I’m going to have my Datsun back very soon now. 🙂 My car needs a new head gasket and it needs some body work, 280ZX’s are known for rusting out, especially up here in CT. Road salt really does a number on them. Mine though, having been in Oklahoma forever, isn’t too badly rusted. Most people are surprised when they see that it’s in such good shape. There’s some rust around the gas cap and some rust in the rear wheel wells and none of it’s even very bad. It needs some interior work as well. The front seats need to be entirely replaced, the gears that keep the back of the seat up are stripped and the seat falls back if you lean back too much. Also the dash and some of the other plastic inside needs replacing as it’s old and brittle. The carpets are still in good shape and the rear seats are too. I want to get the car into show condition, it’s 21 years old now, I could take it to cruise nights and stuff. Hubby wants to do the same thing with his truck, he has a 66 F250 Camper Special he needs to do some work on. My dad gave it to him, my dad did all the body work on it and it looks damn nice. It needs engine work and interior work, the body looks great save for a scratch in the paint that I um put there unintentionally.

*sigh* I just still can’t believe how well everything is coming together, even despite our decision to back up and change our loan amount. There’s never been a time in my life when things were actually going well. There’s always been something there to make whatever good thing was going on suck in a way. But now all those struggles are worth it. The most exciting thing now though is the fact that not only do I not have to worry about money in general but I can probably get my Associate’s degree without any loans or financial aid. The courses at the community college are super cheap, so I should be able to pay for those courses completely out of pocket. Maybe I can start in the spring or at least by next fall, I’ll be working on a Liberal Arts degree to start out. I can’t go straight into a real 4 year college as I never bothered to take the SAT tests. So I’m starting at the Community College and I’m definitely going with Psychology. I basically have two loves in life, the human mind and music. I’ve decided to keep music as my hobby. I’m good at music but I almost think making a career out of it would taint my love for it, because then my flute is my “job”. Psychology has a few drawbacks, mostly related to school and whatnot but in the long run it’ll be worth it and I’m sure I’ll meet a lot of interesting people along the way.

It feels really good to finally know where I am going, I’ve known what I’ve wanted for awhile but it feels good to finally know that this dream is no longer a dream. I can finally jump in and go for it!!

So, that said, we have nothing planned for this weekend, well, we’re going to play pool I’m sure but other than that we’ve got nothing going on. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to not have anything planned for a weekend. Since we’ve been back from vacation all we’ve done is plan our weekend around who’s visiting or picking up a kitten. lol Maybe this weekend we can plan around pool, dinner and Neverwinter. *grins*

Speaking of Neverwinter. 18 Days till “Hordes of the Underdark”! 🙂
