Sophie’s being a little better now. Actually, yesterday morning when we left for work she had taken the little grey kitten out of the nesting box and placed it in the little addition I added to the box. When we left she had gone downstairs, leaving that kitten out like that. When we got home he was back with the nest with the rest of the kittens and everyone looked great. I took everyone out and put them in the addition to the nest I added in the closet so they could crawl around and stretch their legs. They seem to be about a week ahead of schedule with walking. They should still be belly crawling but they’re starting to stand up somewhat, which they aren’t supposed to do so much until another week from now. Sophie came in while we were giving them attention and laid down to nurse them. They nursed for awhile and hubby got a really cute picture, which I forgot to bring to work with me. 🙁 I’ll have to post it tonight after I get home.
When we woke up this morning all the kittens were in the nest and when we left they still were so I think we’re good.
I don’t even know why I’m here today. I have nothing to do and half the company is in meetings. Coincidentally most of the people I work with, and that give me work, are at the meetings, including my boss. I brought something to read and I have my emind stuff, if nothing comes in I might go home at lunch.
It’s cold today!!!! 42 degree’s in Tolland this morning, 50 in Hartford. I had to wear my sweater. Actually, I’m going to put it back on because it’s frigid in the office too. I think the garden is pretty much done save for a few pumpkins. Hubby thinks it’s going to frost here pretty soon. We’re going to put up a fence around the garden and let the chickens in. They need a bigger area to play and run. What they have is sufficient technically but we don’t like sufficient when it comes to our animals, we like to give them luxury. 🙂 Speaking of luxury, I’ve got to get Sara a couple dog beds. I want her to have something for the winter, it stays chilly in our house all winter and the wood floors can get downright cold. I’ve got to get her something for in her crate and then something else for outside the crate. I’ve seen some pretty cool stuff but haven’t bought anything yet. I have a feeling she’s going to like laying near the wood stove in the winter. She’ll have to fight the cats for that spot though, especially Casper. 🙂 Hopefully we can get our windows and doors replaced in the next year or two. That’s the whole problem with our house, it’s old and the windows are cheap and drafty. You can feel a cold draft if you sit on the couch in the winter.
My arm where Sophie bit me is doing much better, I took the bandage off on Monday. I had just been changing it twice a day because up until then it had been open and draining, gross eh? It’s all closed up and the redness is gone. There’s still a hell of a lump under there though that’s really tender. The ER doctor said he thought it was just a hematoma, not an abcess. It should be gone in 2 or 3 more weeks. Fun stuff.
Sophie is doing better too, with us. I think she was just poorly socialized. She doesn’t seem to know what too rough is and stuff when she’s playing. I think she’s learning. I know she likes us. She follows us around, she’s okay with us around her babies, she meows when we first come home. She’s gotten really affectionate with us. Provided we can train her to get along with Sara she’s definitely found her forever home. Too bad I can’t justify another cat because those kittens are really really cute!!! 5 cats is a lot though. I saw a segment on Animal Precint on Animal Planet the other day about a cat hoarder who had managed to collect 247 cats in one small house! They were all over the place, there was feces all over the place, literally over an inch of cat hair collected on the kitchen counters. It was sick. Cat hoarders aren’t uncommon and I think they’ve associated it with OCD or something of that nature. Hoarders are usually people that are trying to help but sadly, don’t know when to stop and can eventually actually cause more harm to the animals and to themselves because they can’t really care for that many animals. I’d never heard of a case this bad, more common are cases of more like 20-30 cats. I was shocked, 247 cats in a house smaller than my own. The sad part was the cats were all so wild every last one of them had to be put down. Even if they weren’t wild finding 247 homes would be a grueling task for anyone.
Anyway, I should probably think about finding something else to do. Not that I have anything else to do but you know. 🙂
It’s HOT here today! I’ll send you some of our heat!
