I’m working from home again today.
I finished another section of the fun glossary project. I have three left to do. I’m not going to bust my ass too hard on it because I work pretty fast anyway. Plus, I have all my other work so I’m planning on doing a section a day. I have three sections left, so I should be able to have it completely finished by Thursday.
My boss sent me some more stuff to enter after this, looking at it, I can’t tell exactly what I’m supposed to do with this next thing. I’ll have to sit down and look at it some more and hopefully I can figure it out, my boss is out for the next 2 weeks and I’d like to have all this completed when she returns. Not sure if I’ll be able to reach this goal because I have to get the telephone directory compiled and released again next week so we’ll see. If I’m recalling correctly I just have to have this stuff done by October. Peice of cake. I’ll probably have it done within the next three weeks if not before.
My boss, and a lot of the people I work with set these deadlines that are rediculously easy to meet. I could literally work like an hour a day and still meet them.
Anyway, I finished this section of the glossary, I did it in notepad and am just going to copy it over into CMS. But I can’t seem to get logged in to CMS from home. I’m connected to the network at work and no-go. I was told I should be able to so I don’t know what’s up. Worst case I can remote control my computer at work and get it into CMS That way. It’s horribly slow though, remote controlling computers, even over a fast internet connection.
Anyway, we went to the 4-H fair yesterday. We didn’t stay a long time. We got there like 2 hours before it shut down. Saw the horses, cows, goats, sheep, and while we were looking at the pigs it started POURING. We were soaked by the time we got to the car. I was dissapointed, the chickens had already been taken home and stuff. That’s my favorite part of the 4-H fair. There are always lots of really pretty roosters.
I want a farm, I’d love to have pigs, cows and goats to go with our chickens. I wouldn’t be able to eat any of our animals so they’d grow old on our farm. Much like our chickens will, they lay eggs right now, but in a few years they won’t be laying as well, if at all, but they’ll still have a nice home in our yard. I want some farm animals just because I love the animals, that’s all that matters to me. Right now we don’t have the money to support large animals like cows and stuff so we won’t be getting anything like that any time soon. Sara’s puppy years were enough of a burden, thank goodness THAT part is over. The first year of a puppy’s life is damned expensive. We’ve probably dropped a good fifteen hundred dollars on vet care and supplies. A good thing to think about for anyone that might be considering a puppy.
I went clothes shopping on Sunday too. Here’s the thing, I have work clothes and I have work clothes. I have like one outfit that’s not “nice”. I have the hardest time finding comfortable clothes because my skin is really sensitive. I managed to score a dark brown and a khaki pair of cordoroy pants that were really soft. I scored a few shirts too. A couple I can’t wear until the weather cools a bit, but they’re awesome. For once, most of what I found was casual. I bought one olive green satin shirt for work and that was it. A couple of the casual things I could probably sneak in to work on Fridays too. 😉 The Khaki pants just barely don’t fit. Incentive to work out I suppose. I’m uncomfortable trying things on at the store. I’m really good at knowing what will fit and look good on me though so it’s not usually a problem. The khaki pants were cut differently than I’m used to though. They’ll fit eventually though, I’m going to start working out more as soon as the rain subsides. I’m hoping to get started on a routine that’s more serious by the end of the week.
I want to do some more work on the house. I want to fix up the little bathroom. It’s so blah right now. This whole house was blah when we moved in. We’ve done a lot of work on it but there’s a lot more to be done. We had some fun doing the upstairs bathroom. We gave it kind of a seaside feel. We put in tiles that look like blue and grey rock. I painted the walls a nice dusty blue. We put in green rugs, fishy towels, a palm tree toilet seat and bamboo curtains. We also got a lighthouse soap dispenser and light-switch cover. The toilet and sink fit in now, they’re yellow. Before they just stood out like sore thumbs, now they go with the room better. I want to give the little downstairs guest bathroom a kokopelli theme. I love kokopelli. I found the cutest set at wal-mart and I’m planning to get that and do some painting and stuff in there. Probably have to do something with the tile in there too. That bathroom is like the size of a closet though so it’ll be a pretty cheap project. If I can get a camera in there I’ll take pictures after I do it.
Not a lot else going on. We’re going to have to put our car back together soon (put the back-seat back in). We’d planned to rent a car when we went to Oklahoma but we’re stuck taking our own which means Sara isn’t going to be able to take up the whole car with her crate. She’s going to learn to sit in a doggy seat-belt. I don’t like having dogs loose in the car. A lot of people do it but I just don’t feel as safe. Not only could she get injured in an accident but she could come forward and injure whoever is in the front seat, including possibly getting into the drivers way. If she’s restrained we’re all safer. She’s used to riding in the car in her crate now though so I want to get her used to the seat-belt before we make the trek to Oklahoma in October. We’ll be taking her fold-down metal crate with us. This should hopefully give us plenty of room to haul all the stuff I need to haul back from Oklahoma.
Anything I can’t fit into the car will be travelling UPS. 🙂 I’m going to get ALL my crap out of moms house if it’s the last thing I do. 🙂
Anyway, I should probably get this stuff dropped into CMS. That way I can take a break from the computer for a bit.
Wow, the slack deadlines are a big opportunity to show them you can do so much more, and thus are worth more financially to them, which can easily result in a raise in 3-6 months time if you keep track of what you do. I know as an employer I *sincerely* appreciate those who finish their tasks early and accurately and either find more for themselves or ask for the next thing to work on.

This might help you out, if you’re interested in getting more responsibilities in areas you like and have the time to work towards it: http://www.opendiary.com/entryview.asp?authorcode=C100467&entry=10518 – finding the hard numbers is difficult but simply summarizing what you’ve done is likely enough if it’s never been done.

Thats awesome that you have easy deadlines to meet. Its good that you are able to figure out what you need to do and when so you can get it all done in plenty of time. I like animals too but I don’t think I could take care of them. I guess I’m the kind of person who likes to enjoy them and pet them an then let someone else take care of them 😉

Ugh, I have SO much work to do on my house and not the faintest idea where to start. You and hubby can tell me! Anyway, I definitely know I need to paint and my kitchen floor is HORRIBLE. Grrrr…..sometimes I HATE owning a house.
