*bangs head on desk* stupid people, oh…dear…god…the stupid people are going to kill me.

*rubs head*

First we have all the idiots in their little cars and walking around Hartford. Y’know, the one’s on foot that step out in front of your car without looking. The one’s on the highway that slam on their brakes for no apparent reason. Maybe they’re all on morphine or something and it’s causing them to see invisible cats, I don’t know. But for whatever reason they’re slamming on their brakes when there’s nothing in front of them.

I could drive myself insane, literally, trying to figure out why some people are so unbelievably stupid.

And then we have work. Oh god, we have work. There’s a windows update hoax that’s been going around. You see, there’s a security hole in Windows (surprise, surprise), the threat from the security problem is real. So someone took it upon themself to create a hoax “fix” for this problem. The e-mail looks like it’s an official e-mail from Microsoft, but it’s not. It’s been sent around to a ton of companies. If you follow the instructions on this e-mail instead of going to the official microsoft site bad things will happen.

What this has caused in my company is paranoia. We can now no longer run updates to any of our software unless it comes straight from our IS department. This sucks because SOME of us know what we’re doing. Some of us would like to fix our computers without waiting for IS to get around to it in 2 years.

Another new development is that any “unauthorized” software cannot be installed. This has always been a rule, but it’s never really been enforced. I have unauthorized software installed but I’m not uninstalling it unless I’m approached about it. And even then I probably won’t really uninstall it. 🙂 It’s possible for them to see that I have this stuff installed because they force us to run this monitoring program that reports every installed program on our machine to IS. *sigh* I hate being nazi’d around by IS. I’m not a threat to the company because I’m not a moron. I know not to go anywhere but the official microsoft website for updates blah blah blah. Yeah, we do even have people here that would give out their username and password if someone pretended to be from our IS department but I’m not one of them.

It’d be nice if IS could recognize that SOME of us know what we’re doing. We’re not all (L)users.

Soooooo anyway.

It’s Friday is it not?

This fact helped me get out of bed this morning. I woke up at 4am. The cats were charging around the bedroom like a bunch of freaks. 4am!!!! HELLO???? Fucking nocturnal animals. I went to the bathroom and went back to sleep for the remainder of the hour. When the alarm went off at five I thought “damn, now I have to get up”. I rolled over and dozed off. Woke up again when I heard hubby moving around and thought “It’s Friday, I can do this.” and got up.

I had a dream that Sophie’s kittens were all still-born. What a depressing dream that was. She worries me though. She’s so young and active. This morning she tried to jump up on the kitchen table and missed. When she fell her stomach hit my knee on the way down. I REALLY want these kittens out of her. She’s a fruitcake! She doesn’t realize she’s got babies growing in her belly.

Anyway, we’ll hope for the best.

I’m going to uh, tune out the world with some NIN.

Later.

Sounds like a day filled with stupid. Stupid isn’t very much fun.
