I played my flute for the first time since we got Sophie. Cats don’t particularly like flutes. When we first got Sally a couple years ago she would come in and bat at my flute if I was sitting and crawl up in my lap. If I was standing she would weave in and out of my legs and meow loudly. She’s quit that but now we have Sophie! Sophie is more violent about it. Sophie comes in and attacks my leg while I’m playing. Owwwww!!

She’ll adjust.

I think Sara would prefer I didn’t play the flute as well. I started getting her used to it right after we got her. I moved it upstairs for awhile so it wouldn’t be as loud at first. Then I started playing for short bursts downstairs in the living room (sara, when crated is one room over from the living room). She whimpered a little when I first played so I kept it short. She’s used to it now though and it doesn’t seem to faze her.

Since my own hearing is sensitive I tend to be pretty cautious of other animals with sensitive hearing. Flutes are loud, and high, but my piccolo is worse. I don’t play it very often, just often enough to stay “good” at it. Every few months I’ll work on it and put it away. I want to be proficient if an opportunity to play ever arises.

*yawn*

I have four fishy faces staring at me. should be five. I lost another, Arthur, to the mystery illness. This is the strangest thing ever, it just strikes suddenly, without warning. Starts out looking like constipation and then proceeds to become obviously not as they start to look better, they then take a turn for the worse and die in 2 days. I’ve been keeping bettas for a year and a half, as a matter of fact I still have the first betta I ever got, Larry. This is just the strangest thing. There’s no rhyme or reason for it either, it’s obviously not something contagious or it would spread in a way that made sence, for instance, among fish who’s water is changed on the same days. The betta board people think it’s got something to do with the breeders. *shrugs* I just don’t know, but I hope whatever it is passes. It’s been a couple months since I’ve had any fish come down with it so I thought it was over, and maybe it is on the way out, lets hope.

Anyway, 7pm. I’m going to go see if I can find something entertaining to do for the rest of the evening.

Betta’s rock, but they do die somewhat unpredictably. I’ve had them for nearly 4 years now (they were the perfect dorm room pet).
