k, I have 25 minutes to type while my hair dye sets so here goes. This will be good to keep my mind off the itchiness hair dye causes.

We went to the band concert. Y’know, the band I tried to join at the beginning of the summer that totally sucked. Yeah, well, they still suck. I will give them credit, they did sound better than they had at the beginning of the summer, but the problems I pointed out at the beginning are all still there, they haven’t been fixed. There are three key things that make a band good. First and foremost the two most important things are the entire band has to be in tune and the entire band has to stay together. Next is delivery, the music has to be interesting. You have to play loud where the music says, play soft where the music says and make it interesting.

The band tonight failed, miserably in all three of these areas. They were not in tune, especially the low brass and flute section. They were not together, mainly the woodwinds. Their delivery was awful. They can do one thing, they can play loud, when they try to play softly they lose it, instead of tightening up the diaghram for a nice powerful soft delivery of music they soften up and just play gently and out of tune.

I would put tonights performance at about a middle school level.

I am glad I didn’t join this group of “musicians”. Although, this does remind me of one thing I’ve always wanted to do and that’s lead a band. Maybe someday I’ll start up a Tolland Community Band. My summers helping out at the high school marching band camp were a blast. I’d love to do something like that again.

Anyway, Thursday night we’re going to see the United States Air Force band. Woohoo, those are always great shows. Next month the Coast Guard band of Liberty is playing too. Lots of fun stuff coming up. 🙂

Wow, you lucked out that the director was suck a ding-brain that he screwed it up for you! Too bad they suck so much. Tell hubby I have to read his entry when I’m brave enough–I am TERRIFIED of heights. I can’t even READ about them.
