Hmm, it appears OD actually works today. I couldn’t post yesterday at all. I typed up an entry and tried many times, now the entry is at home and I’m not.

Anyway.

One of my Nine Inch Nails CD’s has gone AWOL. Both mine and hubby’s copies of Downward Spiral actually, so not only has mine gone AWOL but so has his. I’m annoyed, I wanted to listen to that this morning. On the plus side I found a Tool CD I forgot we had. Lateralus was sitting in it’s case on the CD rack. It’s mostly just cases on the rack, most of the CD’s are in a CD book. Occasionally you’ll run across a CD that got put back into it’s case at one point or another.

I found a couple Insane Clown Posse CD’s too this morning. These weren’t AWOL though, they were just in the wrong CD case and forgotten, kind of like the above mentioned Tool CD. I’m known for losing CD’s. Matter of fact my copy of Rammsteins Setinsucht went AWOL and turned up days after I purchased a new copy. Our Tracy Chapman CD currently resides behind the entertainment center. I accidentally bumped it when I tried to pick it up and it slid down the back of the TV, behind the entertainment center and landed on the floor behind the entertainment center. Our uh, entertainment center is large and heavy so we’ve yet to move it to receive the CD.

I’m a danger to CD’s.

Sunday night we rented “Gods and Generals”. That, my friends, was one hell of a good movie. IF you have an interest in the Civil War. If you don’t you probably won’t like it. It is only because of my husband that I have an interest in the Civil War. He spends countless hours watching Civil War documentaries. Hell, I can probably recite his Ken Burns documentary on it. He tends to watch that every time he’s sick.

Over the weekend we rearranged our kitchen. Our kitchen has this real eyesore of a cabinet that we used to use to store “outdoor” things, car wash stuff, badminton rackets, oil, bug spray, that kind of stuff. We moved all that crap out of there and moved our pantry into it over the weekend. The cabinet looks like less of an eyesore now. What used to be our pantry is a small unfinshed closet of a room between the kitchen and the little bathroom. Way too close to the bathroom for comfort. You know how you’re supposed to keep toothbrushes and stuff at least 6 feet away from the toilet?? Yeah, well, our fucking food was like 2-3 feet away from the toilet. EWWWW!! Might as well be shitting in the pantry. We turned that room into a utility room over the weekend. We moved the washer and dryer upstairs and hubby installed shelving all around those that we can store stuff that doesn’t go in the pantry but also needs to be upstairs. Sara’s brushes and harnesses, mops, laundry stuff, coolers, that kind of stuff. It’s like having a whole extra room, it’s great!! Eventually hubby is going to replace the cabinet that is currently housing the pantry with some nice handmade cabinetry but he’s got to get the basement cleaned up so he can work on it. I’ll have to take pictures when we do it, it’s going to look awesome. Our plan is to use knotty pine, we’re going to stain it to look old, kind of a rustic look to go with our 1790’s house. Then we’re going to put in oak flooring. I can’t wait to do this, it’s going to look fucking awesome.

Anyway, there’s a story that goes along with moving the washer and dryer this weekend. You see, our old ass house has very small doorways. So small that the washer and dryer would not fit through any of them. So the first thing we had to do was take them out of the basement and in through the back-door. No big deal, but here comes the fun part. The doorway to the pantry is HUGE right? But the cabinet was in the way, the cabinet made it so we only had 24 inches to get a 28 inch washer and dryer through. Hmmmm. What we ended up doing was lifting the washer and dryer up three feet onto the kitchen counter then lifting it back down into the pantry on the other side, phew, lot of work that was for 2 people at 9pm at night. That finished the bulk of the project though and all we had to do Sunday was get the washer working (needed longer hoses) and clean the rest of the house. I’m sooooo fucking happy though because the kitchen looks great and I can do a fuck-ton of laundry now. I got allll caught up, even washing the extra blankets and stuff so they could be put into storage. It’s amazing how fast laundry goes when you can actually hear the dryer buzz. 3 hours don’t go by before you remember “shit, laundry” hehe.

Here’s pics of the new pantry and laundry room:

Here’s the washer side, see the counter? That’s what we had to lifted the machine’s over:

This is the dryer side, small room, hard to photograph, but this is it and the shelving.

The new pantry:

Another view of the new pantry, damn this came out blurry. It was really dark this morning so I didn’t have much light, the camera doesn’t like low light:

This is a shoe rack I got over the weekend at Big Lots. The thing was a BITCH to put together surprisingly. It was cheap and it showed. 🙂 The white shelf and drawer thingy is for sorting the mail, hopefully this will keep us from tossing mail on the kitchen table where it piles up and makes a HUGE mess. 🙂

Monday we stayed home. Hubby came down with a cold Sunday night and only got 3 hours of sleep. I had only gotten 5 so we stayed home. That was really nice because we busted our asses all weekend.

This morning I woke up to find the weirdest fucking bug ever in the bathroom. It was fucking creepy looking, but neat in a way. It was one of those bugs that uses camouflage as it’s way to hide. I couldn’t tell what it was but it was kind of like triangle shaped and looked like a cross between a stick and a leaf and it was all brown and barky looking. It was too neat to kill so hubby got it in a paper towel and took it outside and released it.

Anyway, I have one more thing to add. I don’t know if anyone who reads this is from Arkansas or has ever heard of this place. But Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge near Eureka Springs is in danger of being shut down. It’s a refuge for unwanted and neglected Big Cats. The Arkansas governement is refusing their right to be considered a “shelter” and to not have to pay property taxes. My mom has visited here and said it is a wonderful place. I was also hoping to visit on one of our trips to Oklahoma, possibly this fall. There are way too many unwanted and neglected big cats in this country for this place to be shut down. This place is currently home to over 100 large animals who may no longer have a home if this place is shut down. Their futures are uncertain and they may face euthenasia. I’m deeply saddened by this but don’t have money to donate. I’m sending letters and spreading the word. Anyone else who is touched by this place’s plea for help to save their home for Big Cats and other wild animals can go here: http://www.turpentinecreek.org/ like me, you may not have a lot of money but it doesn’t take too long

Wow, you guys have done a LOT of work on that house!!! It’s lookin’ good! My CDs are all over the place, too, but at least I have a fairly good idea of where they are and why they aren’t in their cases.
