Weekend Things

Who got their garden tilled??? Yepp, that’s right. Yesterday there was just enough time after lunch to till. Woohoo! While hubby was tilling our neighbor came by with some extra tomato and pepper plants. We won’t have to buy any tomato plants. There were only a couple pepper plants so we’ll have to buy some more of those but how cool is it that the neighbors had leftovers? We have the bestest neighbors in the whole wide world.

Literally RIGHT after hubby got done tilling and we started putting stuff back in the basement it started pouring rain. We literally had JUST ENOUGH time to do it. I was very pleased. We’ll be doing our planting this week or next weekend at the latest. We still need to sift rocks and stuff out of the dirt. But yay, the hardest part is done.

Last night I was sitting here at my computer and I look down at Vicki who is “covering up” a box of papers I had sitting on the floor. “No way!” I thought and picked up the box. I stuck my nose in the box and what did I smell? Cat piss! Victoria hasn’t been leaving the room to go use the litter box. Damn paranoid cat. She’s afraid of our other cats but they really don’t pick on her anymore. She’s also been pooping in a dark corner on hubbys side of the room. *frown*

We discovered this pretty late last night so we locked Vicki up in the bathroom with food, water, LITTERBOX and toys (our bathroom is huge so she has lots of room to play). Later today we’re going to clear out the dark corner she’s been using and put a litter box in it. Vicki will never have to leave this room again. I really wish I could reason with her. If she’d just relax, walk around coolly and not make herself a target the other cats wouldn’t bother her at all. When she’s content and mellow they leave her alone, when she acts scared and runs they chase her, of course. *sigh* Poor cat.

Everything else is going well for the most part. Our home equity loan fell through. Not gonna happen. Hubby has one more company to try and if that doesn’t work we’ll just have to wait until Oct. to refinance. *sigh* The most important thing though is that we get refinanced before next winter. The heating bills were what were seriously killing us recently. Cooling our house during the summer is less that 100 dollars a month but heating during the winter runs us about 300 dollars a month. If we can refinance before we have to run the heater again we’ll survive.

Today we’ve been cleaning, just the kitchen though. Hubby has been doing the dishes and I’ve been picking up. I cleaned out our “junk” drawers. We’d been out of room for “junk” in them for awhile. I moved the excess junk into shoe boxes. *grin*

After I got sick of cleaning I made hubby a late birthday cake. I thought it came out really cute so I took a picture of it. It’s a double layer cake which I’ve never, ever done before. It’s lemon cake with lemon pudding in the middle, and of course you can see the white frosting. My hubby LOVES lemon. Were it for my birthday it’d be mmmm, dark chocolate. 🙂

Anyway, enough about cake, I’m starving. 🙂

Very cute cake! Don’t you two have birthdays pretty close together? Anyway, lemon = 😛 for me. I’d have the dark chocolate, too, with white boiled icing, or a white cake with dark chocolate glaze icing. Man, I’m hungry now! Oh, and would you send me some of your tomatoes???? I could eat my weight three times over in vine-ripened, home-grown tomatoes!!!!!
