First Trip Out
Well, Sunday was a gorgeous day here so we took Sara out to the park. She met lots of other doggies, only one that was close to her age though, a 13 week old Chocolate lab. She was a bit nervous at first and wanted to hide behind us. Can you blame her though when dogs with heads the size of her entire body are running up and sniffing her? She met a very well trained golden retriever, hopefully that will be Sara one day. 🙂 By the end of our walk she wasn’t nearly as shy about meeting the big dogs though. 🙂 After we left there we went over to our old apartment, it’s a two family house and the landlord lives in the upstairs. We took Sara over to meet their dogs, a yellow lab, a huge 10 year old golden retriever and a chocolate lab. Sara was excited to play with all of them but the yellow lab was really the only one interested in her. Actually, the chocolate lab was too but he plays too rough for her. So Sara played with the yellow lab for awhile until she got fed up with Sara biting at her tail, collar and ankles. She eventually laid down on the floor as far away from Sara as she could get. 🙂 We want to make sure Sara is as well socialized as possible, this is helping us as well. Hubby and I don’t have a lot in common with a lot of people and we’re both slow to make friends, yesterday I think we talked to nearly everyone in the park with a dog. 🙂
Sara does very well in the car and is getting used to riding in a cat carrier in the car. Yepp, she still fits in our largest cat carrier. 🙂 I think we’re going to abandon the doggy seatbelt idea, she managed to play houdini and get herself right out of that thing yesterday before we even left the driveway. So we’re going to hopefully have a bigger car within the next few months, I think we’ve decided on a Hyundai Santa Fe. I never thought I’d say this but I’m really starting to like Hyundai, they’re decent cars and their crash test ratings on both the Accent and the Santa Fe are better than the other cars in their class aside from like Subaru and Honda, the Santa Fe even beat out the Ford Escape by a long shot. 😉 We watched the video’s online and damn you don’t want to be in a head on collision at 40 MPH in a Ford Escape, kiss your legs and head goodbye! Best buy would be the Honda CRV, but it’s out of our price range for the options we want. 🙂
So I guess that’s about it. I should probably get to work.
Good luck with the car-buying adventure–I HATE car shopping. Even when I know exactly what I’m going to buy, which I always do. Sara sounds as though she is going to be a very very nice, good doggie!!!!
