Finding my Sister

I got an e-mail from my mom this morning and was shocked because she already has information on her mom. Apparently my grandfather remembered the name of my grandma’s step-father and was able to find him in the phone book. He was in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Sadly, the news wasn’t good, she died 6 years ago at age 59. My mom is pretty upset with herself for waiting so long, she’s wanted to try and find her for a long time but was always afraid to push her dad to help her. My hope though is that my mom will be able to get some closure through stories and photographs if the family has anything to offer her.

This also brought my mom to the conclusion that I should be able to meet my sister. I said before that I thought she might learn from this and she did. She asked if I had any interest in finding my sister and said she would look for me. She didn’t want it to end up being to late for me too. Of course, it will be my sisters decision as to whether or not she wants to meet us.

I’ve always had a desire to find her ever since I knew she was out there somewhere. I wonder what she’s like, what she looks like, what she likes to do for fun. Does she have AS? Is she shy? Is she chubby like the rest of us? Things like that. Is she married? Does she have kids? I could be an Aunt and not even know it! Hell, my mom could be a grandma. 🙂

So bad news and good news today. I don’t know how hard it will be for my mom to find my sister. It partly depends on whether or not she’s looked for my mom at all. If she’s looked it will be really easy. Luckily a friend of my moms has a friend that specializes in finding children who have been adopted out so we’ve got excellent help and free help which is a huge step! Finding family members isn’t cheap, one really good site to register on costs $2,500 to stay on. It’s insane.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed. 🙂

*Keeps fingers crossed* RYN: Wow that’s interesting. I think that might be it. I’ll let Tom know when he gets home. Thank you so much!

Well, I certainly do have my fingers crossed, and how very sad that your mother was 6 years too late. I do hope that she can hear all about her mother from her mom’s family.
